A Life Well Lived - Arty 5/31/10 - 11/11/21

Dearest Rosy,
I'm sorry I had to leave without saying a proper goodbye.  The owies and itchies were just too much and I heard Angel Dory calling me to the beautiful land of no more pain. I sure have missed Dory,  it will be wonderful to see her again. Don't worry, Mama and Daddy were holding me, petting me and telling me how much they loved me as I left for the Rainbow Bridge.  I know they will be extra sad for awhile, so make sure you give them lots of  extra snuggles and kisses.

Take good care of Jakey and Sunny and show them how much fun CeCe can be. I know I am leaving before showing everyone our latest adventure. Don't let Mama skip telling everyone about it. We had a great time, and it was the best road trip finale a guy could ask for.

Tell Mabel I love her, we had so many great adventures together both virtually and in the furs!

In fact, please let Blogville know how much I will miss them. It was such an honor to be the Mayor of such a fun and loving community. I am looking forward to having margaritas with Ruby and visiting Tucker's Everlasting Buffet! I can't wait to see to see Bilbo, Bailey, Hazel, Mango, Dexter, Sasha, Dennis, Trixie, Sugar, Declan, Lexi, Emma, Madi, Casey, Jessie, Whitley, Finley, Big Boy, Pocket, Foley and so many other Blogville Angels. Imagine the Thanksgiving pawty we'll be having! I am so lucky to have known you all and shared so many fun times with you all.

I know it's hard to say goodbye, but we will see each other again someday and I will always live furrever in your heart. I know you'll be a very good girl...and you'll be the bestest big sister ever!

Your loving brother,
Arty

  2. What a lovely letter, but of course we can't help feeling so sad that Arty had to leave us too soon and too suddenly. 'A life well lived' sums it up perfectly and all those of us who remember his great contribution during his term as Mayor of Blogville will always smile as we think of the fun we had together.
Sending love and hugs to Rosy, Jakey, Sunny and their wonderful Mama and Daddy as you all come to terms with this sad change.

  6. Dear Beth, Ed, Rosy Jakey and Sunny
My deepest sympathy and understanding of your tremendous loss. When I met you, Arty and Dory
in 2016 I truly understood the meaning of '3 peas in a pod'. The love in your eyes for each other lit up the room.

    Dear Arty,
Bless your sweet heart what a lovely letter to Rosy and it was so YOU. Always making sure your gang was A OK. Meeting you and Dory and Mama was the absolute highlight of 2016. Getting to see your love for one another. When I held Dory you stayed right at me feet to make sure I did it right!! I will always think of you when I feel a gentle ocean breeze or
have sand between my toes. Run free dear sweet boy.

Normally I describe a friend by making words out of the letters in their name. Today I'd like to use the beaches to describe Arty.

    Beaches

Beth's traveling buddy and best poser
Ever so devoted to his family
    Adventure was your middle name
    Constantly bringing smiles to everyone
He looked so dapper in hats...ALL HATS
Eternally in the hearts of all who knew you
Sunshine on your shoulders and sand between your toes made you HAPPY

With love and hugs to you and your pack

Oh angel Arty - can you see this screen as I type - because I can't. My eyes are worse than that Scottish sky right now. All of us, your Blogville pals, are hurting at your departure... but in no way could that match the sadness that must be felt in your own furmily just now. Do put on your wings from time to time and visit us through the ether, won't you? With very special hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  12. We saw this on Facebook and Mom got all teary eyed and we are all teary eyed again reading this letter. It came as such a shock to hear you are gone, and we know how much all your hearts are aching right now. Dory will be happy to be with Arty again, but those you left behind will miss you so much. We will miss your sportiness for sure as well as your love of adventure. GBGV hugs to your parents and siblings.

  13. The tears are flowing again here. We still can't believe you are gone, Arty. But we know that you are very happy now reunited with Dory and Bilbo and having fun with all our Angels. We hope you have found a beautiful ocean there for you to sit by and be happy. You performed your work on earth admirably, and we are very grateful to you for the many wonderful memories we have had of good times in Blogville and a gazillion happy posts on our blog. We are sending great big hugs and gentle woos to all of your family, human and furry.

  31. Such a devastating loss. We are so sorry. We loved all his adventures. Thank you for sharing his life with us. Here are some words I have written about grief.

You are now undertaking the long journey through grief. While others may share that grief we all walk it alone. There are no right or wrong paths, no proper way to carry oneself on the trek, no set amount of time to complete it. Some steps will come easier than others. There will be rogue waves of grief that you won’t see coming, and knock you back days. But you will come through it. If you get lost let us know. We have been through it before and we might be able to help you find the way out.
