Nature Friday during Monsoon Season

Rosy here today with another surprising fact we are learning about living here in Northeastern New Mexico....

Monsoon Season!
Lately, every afternoon dark clouds move in and thunder starts to rumble!

The hummingbirds all come around to get a last minute snack before heading into the trees to hide.

Can you find the hawk already hiding in the tree?

Sometimes the sun stays out when the skies get dark.
The flowers really look pretty when this happens!

Bunches of times the skies get dark, and we can see it raining in the neighborhood next to ours but we don't get any rain at all!

Other times the sky gets black.....

 Lightning bolts strike...
and it rains really, really hard.

Just look!!

You can see it HERE on YouTube too!

Thanks for joining us for a look at
New Mexico's Monsoon season. We sure hope there aren't any monsoons on your corner of Blogville this weekend!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see the link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  1. I saw the hawk!! That is like a hurricane; how do tiny hummers hang in the trees then? I had no idea. Happy weekend, Rosy!

  5. Wow, love those monsoonal skies! Ours are less dark and other than last weekend's gully-washer, we've had little rain beyond a drop or two. As always your birdies and flowers look amazing! Stay cool and safe.

  7. Oh wow, we had NO IDEA that New Mexico has a monsoon season. That rain is something else! The weather world is upside down this week. Here in Aberdeen, Scotland, everything is beginning to look dry and parched...
    Toodle-oo!

  11. Lady was driving in the city last week and saw a red tail hawk! You guys have great nature. We are very glad that Sunny is on the mend, even if it is hard to keep her resting and Lady loves the Viking and bee, it made her Saturday morning! Lee and Phod
