Backyard Wildlife Wednesday - Texas Longhorn Birdies

 

Today we are featuring birdies who sport the same colors as our Texas Longhorns!
(Congratulations to the Women's Softball Longhorn's Team for winning the
College Softball World Series!!)

  5. It's nice to see pretty colored birdies. Mainly we see blackbirds and robbins around here and they are rather boring.

  6. Yippee Skippy nieces
    AC loves grosbeaks and I have never seen a blackheaded grosbeak.
    I love their Long(horn) conical beaks and their Longhorn colors.
    Several years ago I was lucky enough to see a M Rose breasted Grosbeak at the feeder. OMDs it was so exotic looking. Crazy me I grabbed my N American birding book to see what it was i saw and lo and behold on the cover the book was a rose breasted grosbeak. A few minutes later I saw a very dull looking bird with the conical beak. It was the female
