Love is in the Air in BWW

As Valentine's Day gets closer, we thought it would be fun to take a look at the bird couples that we see in our backyard. They visit both the birdy theater and smart feeder together. Most of the birdy couples stay together for the mating season, with the exception of the red winged blackbird. Seems like he likes to play the field and will take a few mates throughout the season....
I guess that explains why there are SO MANY of them.

The house finches that visit SF are Mama's fave because it always seems the male watches over the female while she is eating!

I guess birdies can be interesting sometimes
(but they are mostly silly)!

We are joining Sandee at Comedy Plus for the
Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop this week!

  1. Gorgeous (both you and the bird couples) We are at the time of year the birds are teaching their offspring where to find food and what to eat. Male green finches kind of guard their families like that too.

  4. The big question is, do bird experience love or is it all instinct? It is nice for any living creature to have a companion, don't you think? Hope your Mom is surviving her crutches and not being able to do much.

  5. Am thinking me and mine Mommy are a little like those "house finches". I won't eat my meals unless she sits nearby and watches over me ... kinda sorta strange that way, I guess. I think it was cause I was a "runt" and everyfurry tried to take my foodz ... now I need a purrtector.

  9. I love seeing all the birdie couples you get at your feeders. The birds are scarce around here this time of year.

  14. You sure have interesting birdies in your yard. We're too busy chasing them to watch them. XOX Xena and Lucy (Chia isn't allowed to be loose to chase birdies cause she'll run off through the neighborhood.)
