More Winter in the Backyard

Welcome to Nature Friday where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. Today, we are going to take a look at some of the pictures Mama took after the snow we got a couple of weeks ago.  Mostly she took pictures of birds because we were too lazy cold to play in the snow.

This is SF the smart bird feeder, Mama cleared the snow after she took the picture so the birds wouldn't have any problem finding their food.

Our resident House Finches were happy the feeders got filled the day before the storm.

The Junco couple were happy for the seed the finches were dropping

...and here is a Mourning dove giving Mama the stink eye. We feel ya Miss Dove, that Mama and her camera can be annoying!

Speaking of Mama and her camera....well kinda...Mama got a diagnosis on her knee yesterday. The good news is she doesn't have to have surgery and can keep giving us food and treats as scheduled. BUT, she does have a stress fracture along with a mini disco (miniscus) problem. She is banned from unnecessary walking which, I have been told, includes MY DAILY WALKIES!  She has to use a silly brace and crutches for the next FOUR WEEKS. Luckily we have LOTS of archive pictures if we don't get out and about for new photos.

Anyways....back to the snow pictures:
The fountain sure is missed by the birdies,  it looks so quiet and serene covered with snow though.

The temps got down in the teens, BRRRRR!
The icicles made another appearance(Mama knocks them all down after she takes pictures of them).

The snow even clung to the Texas Cactus seed pods making for a very pretty picture!

We'll wrap up this week with a little female house finch basking in the warm sun!

We hope you enjoyed this week's look at our snowy backyard and hope all our friends get a chance to enjoy nature this weekend!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

My word, that looks like a proper winter garden - even I didn't get any of that. The birds sure must appreciate the supplies... What a shame about mama's knee. Crutches can be a real nuisance. Sending some POTP her way for fast and proper healing! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. We hope your mom's leg behaves and heals quickly. That is a major bummer but it is good it is not worse. Everything looks better with snow in the winter, not so dead looking. Have a nice weekend and be kind to your mom. Maybe your dad will take you guys for some walks.

  8. FIRST I am so sorry about Mama's injury...BUMMER for sure as I know she likes to walk and snap photos. But best to heal correctly so that this is healed by summer and Cece trips.
OMDs I giggled at 'We feel ya Miss Dove, that Mama and her camera can be annoying!'
Angel Madi would agree. Aunty C is not one to play in the cold snow and ice either glad you have cameras set up.

  10. what furbulous birdie photos! I'll bet they were very happy your Mama makes sure they have food. And speaking of your Mama...I'm sorry her walks are restricted and hope the brace, crutches and rest do the trick. Glad to hear surgery won't be needed-that would have been a real bummer. We hope you have a good weekend. It should be nice in the Rocky Mountain region, so maybe your Mama can relax in the backyard and take more fabulous photos.

  13. Your Mama sure is smart to know the types of all those birdies, Rosy! There's a so-called bird behind the snow-covered fountain that looks like it's really a dinosaur...beware!! XOX Xena
