Getting our Kix on Travel Tuesday

We are so happy to share some of the fun we had during our trip to Tucumcari, NM a couple of weeks ago. The highlight of this trip was actually a road trip that we took to explore Route 66 in Texas.

Tucumcari is closer to the Texas border than home, so it only took one nap to get to our first stop.

Adrian, Texas is the halfway point between Chicago, where Route 66 starts, and Santa Monica, (in Los Angeles) where Route 66 ends.

They have this cute little park to help mark the spot.

The town of Adrian is pretty small and they embrace their part in Route 66's history.

We celebrated Route 66 by getting our pictures taken with Lightning McQueen from the Pixar movie Cars!
(We may have been more interested in the puppies nearby)

After Adrian, we went into to Amarillo (We'll have more on our stop in Amarillo on Thursday).
On the way back to Tucumcari from Amarillo, we made a walkie stop  in Vega, Texas.

Vega, Texas is another town that was hit hard after Interstate 40 replaced Route 66. They are a quaint little town and had nice grass for sniffing and a nice sidewalk for walkies!

We found this cool old gas station that was turned into a Museum along our walk!

It may be closed now, but back in the 1920's through the 1940s it was a major service station serving the traffic along Route 66!

Mama thinks the magnolia name and logo are pretty cool!

After another short nap ride, we were back at our campground in Tucumcari!

Isn't finding cool places to go while we're camping fun, Sunny??
Weeeelllllll, I suppose Rosy, but I sure wish we could get places without actually being in the car...
Auggie the Alien: Next time, let's just take my spaceship!

We are joining Sandee at Comedy Plus for the
Happy Tuesday Blog Hop this week!

  2. What great places you found! We have only seen tiny spots along Route 66, so you guys are lucky to see so much of it. The mid point looks like an excellent place to stop and look around.
