There was some kind of racket going on in the ByeBye Machine house last weekend, and then again early in the week. I thought maybe Daddy was being held prisoner cause he wasn't playing with me as much as he should have.
Mama said he was ok. He was just playing with his loud toys. She said that I should be PATIENT because he was making a surprise for me and Bilbo. It took a VERY LONG TIME (ok...so maybe 2 or 3 sleeps) but look what he made for me and Bilbo!!!
It is our very own ramp up to the family bed!!!! Oh yes, Bilbo and I let Mama and Daddy sleep on the big bed with us....as long as they do not take up much room or snore too loudly.
Anyway, we used to have step (from Mama: an upside down laundry basket covered with a blanket) for us to hop up on the bed, but Bilbo's back isn't so good so Daddy, being his wonderful Daddy self, made us this very cool ramp so we could just walk on up!!

Here I am being just a LITTLE scared to climb up. The squirrel can do it, so I think I can too....so I say the little red choo choo mantra

and I just climbed on up, grabbing the squirrel on the way!!
Come On Bilbo!!! Bilbo?? Where did you go???
Mama says Bilbo is still getting the hang of it.
From the Mama:As you might know, our little Boney Man is not much for change and he is also NOT treat or toy motivated, making it hard to "train" him. We are sure that he will get the hang of it after he realizes that it is either that or sleeping on the floor.
I am going to take a nap while Mama teaches Bilbo about ramp climbing.

I must say, as a professional buidling inspektor, that ramp is awesome! Look at you being so brave and going up it! I'm sure Bilbo will realized it's the ramp or the floor and choose the ramp. Kudos dad!
ReplyDeleteHey Bilbo, you can do THAT. I have a ramp too, butt mine doesn't go to the bed. It goes from my outdoor fenced play area up to my front porch... which does not have a floor right now.

I am going to get new carpet on my ramp when dad gets the floor back on the porch.

WOW..that's a nice ramp. Pawpa has to lift me up on the bed. (Mom won't do it cuz I growls when she picks me up) I used to jump up on my own but I can't do that anymore. (Mean Mom sez I am too fat and need to have less cookies)

Oh wow Dory, you have the best daddy in the world to make you such a cool ramp. A ramp to the bed - it's our idea of heaven!! (We're not allowed in the bedroom - sob!) We're sure Dory will pick it up in no time - as you say, as soon as he realises that it's 'climb or snooze on the floor', he he he! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

You know, stain it to match the rest of furniture? I have a bench at the end of the bed but I still hafta hop up twice. Once to the bench and then to the bed. Puffy can't do it at all anymore. Suits me. Wait. Scrath the ramp to order idea. SHE might think it's a good idea!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was first new in my house, I was real skeered of stairs. So my momma just put me on the lowest stair and then I hopped down. And then when I gots comfy with that, she put me on the second stair and so on and so forth. Now me and Brudder Ranger race up and down 'em. Maybe your momma could do something like that with Bilbo. (Not racing - the other thing.)

ReplyDeleteYour Daddy is very talented AND nice to make that ramp for you. Phantom is a lot like Bilbo, not easily adaptive to new things, definitely not food-oriented. We hope Bilbo gives in because it is a very nice and safe way for you to get to the bed. Nice Daddy:)

And its useful for other things too, like if you and Bilbo can't get to sleep, you can race each other up and down the ramp. Or bring all your toys to push down the ramp. Now that would be fun, and when you get tired, just jump in bed!

ReplyDeleteThat's a really great ramp! We love the carpet on it, and figure that would make it a LOT easier to climb. We have ramps all over around here because Grandma OC has has to use them for a couple of years. She can even use them with her new wheelchair if someone opens the door (can't use the doggy door with the w-chair). She can even use the w-chair on the ramp to get up on Grammy and Papa's bed, and then Grammy takes it off after she is up there. Grammy can't lift her because of HER back, so she's really happy about the w-chair.
