Can you believe it is almost summer ALREADY??
It seems like only yesterday bunches of our friends were snowed in
and it was freezy cold outside!!

Jakey likes to sunbathe A LOT!!!
The V-E-T says Sunblock sprayed on Jakey, especially his tummy area, would help lots. The best thing to do would be to keep him inside as much as possible when the sun is the strongest. Here in Northern California the sun is way strong between the hours of 10 and 3.
Not only does Mama spray Arty and Jakey's tummies (and sometimes mine too), but she makes sure our noses are protected from the sun too. She uses sunblock lotion for this.
DO NOT USE ANY PRODUCT WITH ZINC OXIDE
it is NOT good for doggies.
(Mama uses human baby suncreen).

I don't lay in the sun very often, but when I do I am usually wearing protective dresses. We are lucky up here on the Northwest Coast, the hottest it usually gets is 75 degrees or so.

Well done Dory, those are all impawtant things to remember with summer coming fast. Since most of us are indoor kitties we don't have to worry about sunburns even when we are in our sunpuddles. If it's too much sun coming in mama closes the blinds a little. Our outside siblings stay on the cool patio when it hits the triple digits. Mama will turn on the water mist for them and add ice cubes to the water dish.

ReplyDeleteAll my furs seem to protect me from da sun pretty good - sometimes it pays to be extra fluffy. And dere are nuffin like a pool to cool down on all da 100+ days we get here.

First - you look GORGEOUS in your dress and oh, so cool in your shades! It gets so ridiculously hot here, that we stay inside during the heat of the day. We go on our big walkies early, early, way too early to avoid heat. And YES, we drink plenty of water, like you said!
