WOW...It's hard to believe it's almost Autumn already!
Mama has been hiking in a local bird sanctuary this summer and has accumulated a bunch of birdy photos. I let her know, since we are in between nature adventures, that she could share the photos here over the next couple of weeks.
This week we're going look at a few water birds:
Let's start with a couple of herons. Here we have a Great Blue Heron, Mama's favorite water bird!
Mama caught this Great White Heron walking the shoreline
These little guys are all over the marshy areas at low tide:
Mama likes watching the Lesser Yellowlegs skitter across the mud leaving their little talon prints everywhere.
You can really notice his little "yellow legs" in this picture. He looks a little chilly too, don't you think?
You won't believe the next birdy, just look at his beak...
It's humongous! This is a Curlew, a Long Billed Curlew to be exact....
I guess we know where he got his name, don't we?
BOL!!
This Snowy Egret is another one of Mama's favorites, they look so very floofy!
Let's wrap things up the way with another Great Blue Heron...They have such long skinny necks and faces, don't you think?
Thank for joining us for a look at some of the water birdies Mama has been seeing this Summer!
I hope you get outside and chase some, I mean look at, some birdies this weekend!
Behind the scenes....
OK Sunny, you are in charge of next week's Birdies. Remember, be pawfessional and no goofing around!
Pawfessional is my middle name, you can count on me Rosy!!
Show
us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of
your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey!
Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below,

ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful. We love the shot of the egret!
ReplyDeleteThose are super pictures. Well done mama! The snowy egret, and his reflection, is particularly fine.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy it is fall, loving the cooler weather and hoping for lots of cold and snow in the winter. Nice birdees, but we think a feature on squirrels would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful water birds you have on display today Rosy. I'm quite fond of the Great Blue Heron too. I love his itty bitty feathery mohawk in the back.
ReplyDeleteMama well done on the Snowy Egret reflection.
OMDs Mr. Curlew is the Pinocchio of the birdies.
Happy Weekend
Hugs Cecilia
Those are great picture of all those water birds. We like the bird with the long curved beak the best.
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time, when we lived in Florida we would see all the same water birds ... so, so lovely every one!
ReplyDeleteThose are pretty cute birdies but not as cute as you sweet Rosie!
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing sights your mama has shared! Such very cool birds, in fact I think I may walk to the nearby lake and see if there's anything new going on beyond the Canadian geese. Thanks for the inspiration! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful nature and even better looking pups. A huge Awww.
ReplyDeleteHave a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥
