Happy Nature Friday!
Last week, Mama went for a walk without me to a local Nature Park.
The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park is located by the Rio Grande River...and did I mention I was NOT invited....For some reason perfect little dogs, like me, aren't allowed in this park.
Mama saw turtles...
Some dried tree fungus...
Some ducks...
This is Mama's most favorite
duck, a Wood Duck, and one she had never seen in the wild before!
She saw some other pretty birdies
(without ME) too!
Little finches....
A Canadian Goose in flight
....and even a Sandhill Crane
coming in for a landing!
This sure looks like a pretty park and it sure looked safe for pretty little dogs like....
What's that Mama?
You made a movie showing why it may not be as safe as I think?
You can also watch it HERE, on YouTube
OMD!! You saw TWO coyotes???
I sure am glad I decided to stay home!
We hope you all have weekends filled with safe Nature Walks
It looks like a beautiful nature park. I enjoyed h=going through this post and pictures. I really like that sandhill crane landing photo. Best timing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful nature park and the wood duck is beyond handsome! Love the crane falling from the sky!

ReplyDeleteOh my - I hope mama had some spray or a strong stick with her!!! A wonderfurs park fur sure - quite different from redwoods!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Well, who cares about birdies, you need a park full of small furry critters, that is much more exciting. We see coyotes on our walks sometimes around our area. They see us and they leave. Fox on the other paw, they are curious and they follow us. Maybe you can find a park to go to next time.
ReplyDeleteWow, coyotes eat little dogs. so glad you were at home.. alos not all dogs are sweet and good like you are which is probably why dogs are not allowed. it sure is beautiful out there. I remember the first time I saw wood ducks was in 2004 when I bought my Canon DSLR and out with Diane, i was astounded at there paint job look and said why would they call a gorgeous duck something like wood duck
ReplyDeleteThat sure looks like a cool place to visit. We love the picture of the crane that looks like it is suspended in the air. It's surprising to see coyotes out during the day and so close to people. We're sure it's safer for you to stay home when your mom wants to visit that park again.
ReplyDeleteOMDs Rosy...that Crane needs a refresher course in the correct position for landing.
ReplyDeleteOM Coyotes thank goodness you 3 were safe at home. It appeared the the coyote might have been a bit worried about the 2 legger taking a photo so he was in retreat mode.
Hugs your Aunty Cecilia
That's an amazing place! Sorry you couldn't go along, but you don't want to mess with coyotes.
ReplyDeleteSometimes mom knows best. It's her job to keep you safe and she did just that. You're such a pretty girl.
ReplyDeleteHave a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your smart mom. ♥
Bloody awesome photos
ReplyDeleteThose are fantastic pictures. I don't know why you can't bring an animal to an area filled with animals.
ReplyDeleteCan you even believe those coyotes are allowed in the park and you aren't, Rosey?! It's outrageous! XOX Chia
ReplyDeleteI like the reflection in the lake of the turtle on the log. XOX Lucy
I'll just stay home with you, Rosey. No coyotes for me. XOX Xena
What amazing wildlife your mama got to see. I love the Sandhills (used to go to the refuse in the San Luis Valley back in the days when I lived in the area). And that wood luck...talk about fabulous!!! Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat another amazing adventure, we love your Friday posts!
ReplyDeleteWow, what an amazing place to visit! We can't believe how many amazing birds you have. Your mom does such a great job at capturing them. We were also glad to see Jakey got a lot of birthday treats (we do hope he shares a few with his sisters). Lee and Phod
ReplyDeleteMOL dat Sandhill Crane sure did look like he was falling out of da sky ;) Some nerve of them not letting you in da park buts if there are coyotes I can see why they might not want you to partake in da fun.
