It was really nice having the whole family together in Cece for our last trip.....well, except for one little thing. When Mama isn't driving, she is constantly looking for "road trip gems". These can be anything from big rocks jutting out of the dirt like we saw last Friday....to the big skies we'll show this Friday.
What she really likes though are old signs.
Don't get me wrong, she likes all big signs even newer ones like this.
But boy does she get excited when she sees older signs in small towns. Like the ones we saw in Cuba, NM.
This is about as excited as I get when Mama squeals about things when we are on the road....
Not Mama, her imagination goes crazy wondering what it must have been like on the roads when these businesses were booming businesses.
All humans must have really enjoyed their road trips back then, not just our humans.
We all know that "When Mama's Happy, Every Puppy is Happy". I sure hope she keeps her squees to a minimum on the next family road trip though, so I can get some sleep!
We are joining Sandee at Comedy Plus for the
Happy Tuesday Blog Hop this week!
oh we love it as much as you.. and we imagine how it was once... but it is better to sleep in your cece... the motel can be the one of mr. bates and his momma... just saying LOL
ReplyDeleteI can just picture the scenes. I like the old 'Wild West' style signs. But every generation will look back and see something appealing, though maybe nothing so iconic in what we have now...

ReplyDeleteThey were built to last, weren't they - and I don't think the new signs will have any of the same galmour or nostalgia that makes mama squeal when another fifty years has passed! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
I prefer the old signs too. both of these old signs are familar from my youth, the motels we stayed in when traveling form Savannah to Kentucky, had signs like this. that was from 1953 to 1959 back and forth. mid century modern i think these are called. I love the rusty part too.
ReplyDeleteThey are very cool signs and make you wonder.

Our mom loves old signs too. She finds them fascinating. At least you didn't have to get out and pose with them.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet to be patient with your mom, Sunny. Our mom loves those old signs too.
ReplyDeleteSquee! Such fun ...
ReplyDeleteMom can't help but squee when she sees these signs. You'll have to deal with it. After all it makes mom happy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to your peeps. ♥
We can hear Mama squeeing from here in Torridon.
ReplyDeleteYour mom sound like she is pleasant to travel with.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a good Sign if Mama is happy with the good signs!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Sunny. A happy Mama is a good thing, and maybe those treats will just roll from her human paws quite freely.

Lulu: "Sounds like your Mama with old signs is just like our Dada with old graveyards!"
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Dada likes old graveyards?!"
Lulu: "Yes ... You didn't know that? You've been here longer than I have."
Charlee (now giving Dada side-eye): "True, but we never leave the house ..."
