Cacti on Friday

Howdy effuryone! Welcome to Nature Friday, where we can meet some new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like all around Blogville. 

This week, we are headed back to the ABQ Botanic Gardens, this time to take a look at some blooming cacti.

The cactus atrium is bright, cheery and warm in the morning sun. This has been helping the plants grow...even when it's chilly outside 

Here is a Golden Barrel Cactus.

 

 

Check out the interesting "blooms". 

Isn't it cool how they bloom in a pinwheel type shape?!

The Christmas Cactus isfull of pretty pink blooms.

Who knew there were so many pretty flowers on such prickly plants, pretty cool don't you think??

This is called a bristle brush cactus.

I sure do like all their bright pink blooms with the yellow centers!

Last, but not least, this sedum plant has tons of tiny, lacy white flowers!

Happy Ladybug Tuesday

Today I am thankful for my new ladybug toy!!

It's disc shaped and pawfect for a game of fetch, but what I really like are all the squeakers it has, and the head is easy to grab onto for a nice gamy of tuggy!

Weird Weather

 If you don't like the weather they say,

just blink your eyes and it will change.

How true this is, and I should know,

I blinked my eyes and POOF, no more snow!

 

 Not only did the snow go away,

It seems that Spring has come to play.

The days warmer, about 60 degrees

and gone is the snow that was up to my knees!

Mama is confused as what to wear,

When she looks in her closet we hear her swear.

"What will it be today, short sleeves or a sweater?"

We tell her to blame the weird, weird weather!!

Thankful for New Medicine

This week, on Thankful Thursday, I am very thankful for some new medicine I am taking for my sore leggy. You see, for the past few weeks my back knee(the patella my other dogtur couldn't fix) has been pretty darn sore. At first I just had occasional limpies, then I didn't want to jump down from my couch bed. Mama made an appointment at the dogtur and she suggested a shot I would get monthly to help my owies. Mama remembered that Molly had also had monthly shots that were working for her, so we went for it! The shot takes about 5 days to start working, but Mama is pretty sure it's working already as I am jumping down from the couch with ease now! 

 

Thanks Dr. E for helping to make me feel better!

From Mama: Since Sunny will most likely suffer from arthritis for the long term, Librela(the owie shot) was our best choice of pain management that wouldn't have long term harm. We will be able to add carprofen to the mix if she is having extra bad days(using carprofen regularly can effect liver and kidney function along with various other side effects when using long term).

 

 Again, if I would have known all the "down sides" of Sunny's surgeries, I definitely would have thought twice before putting her though it. My advice is to ALWAYS get a second opinion to any non life threatening surgery your vet may recommend.

Pink Makes Me Happy

The other day, I was pondering all the things that make me happy. You know, barking, bugging Rosy, not listening to Mama and things like that. 

Then I saw Rosy in one of her pink bandanas

...and I thought

I think pink really makes me happy too!

Rosy likes more of a dark pink.....

I say ppphhhhhwapp to that...A nice light dusty pink, like my cute little tongue is the color that makes me happy!!

Tropical Flowers on NF

Howdy effuryone! Welcome to Nature Friday, where we can meet some new friends and maybe share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. 

Even though it is still chilly outside, Mama is pining for some warmer weather. Last week, she went to the Atrium at the ABQ Botanical Gardens to see what trawpical flowers she could find to help warm her up!

 

 

 She found some pretty purply pink orchids....

 

 

 

 Some bromeliad.... 

  

 

and this cute little succulent with some water droplets....

 

  

 Unlike Mama, we like the cooler weather and are hoping we get some more snow before Winter ends!

We hope you enjoyed our little trip to the tropical Atrium of the Botanical Gardens. Mama is always surprised at their foliage and beautiful flowers.

Thankful for Snow Days!

This week we are thankful for the "all not knowing" weather humans.

They said we were going to get

a dusting of snow....

 

Well,  it dusted....and dusted... 

 

 

Until there was about 4 inches of fun, exciting "dust"

Needless to say, we had a blast!
