Our New Mexico Winter

Howdy effuryone! Welcome to Nature Friday, where we can meet some new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like in our corners of Blogville. Here in New Mexico, most of January sure has been cold!

We have had to work real hard to keep the fountain from freezing up.

The ice looked so pretty and Mama made sure to take pictures of it before breaking it up so it would melt in the sun.

The birdies depend on the fountain water to drink and to take their baths, so we want to make sure it is always full and flowing.

We have decided the Winter color in New Mexico
(and probably around the world) is brown.

 Leftover leaves on the tree....brown

Flowery buds dried in the sun and cold....brown

There are a couple of other colors in our backyard though,

Crab Apples on the tree are reddish...brown

and a left over apple we found on the tree is yellowish....brown

This week the sun has been out and things are a bit warmer!
Mama says we shouldn't get used to it though, because it is suppose to get rainy and cooler next week...

Come on Spring!!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  1. Well done Mama for taking care of the birdies in the freezing weather. And yes, things are looking fairly brown here too.

  3. Our neigborhood is mostly brown too except for the peeps that fertilize their lawns. We've had so much rain that they are the lucky ones to keep that pretty green grass! You found great stuffs for Nature Friday!

  4. It's a very ugly winter here and we are still very sad because it is warm and pretty much snow free. Brown isn't much fun but we have a lot of it. We can't imagine keeping a fountain running in the cold, but your mom is doing a good job.

  9. Java Bean: "Ice! We see a tiny bit of that here some years, but not this year. This year it is rain, rain, and more rain!"

  10. Some nice sunshine would be appreciated here in WNY. Everything here is gray and brown and soggy. But, as our ghostwriter always says, "if it's not snow and ice I'll take it!" It was good to see you pups in your colorful attire in your bright sunshine, even if it's a bit cold.

  14. We are impressed with your winter. Lee and Sunny both share the desire for the cold to go away and Phod likes it! Lady thinks there may be some huskey in him. Lee and Phod who are deep into winter!
