When the pawrents went to Las Vegas last November, they made a quick stop in Winslow, Arizona. They have taken little side trips to Winslow before, Mama always likes looking at the fun Route 66 roadside stuff and Daddy likes seeing the railroads and trains. This time they stopped someplace they knew was there, but hadn't taken the time to explore.
This is Standing on the Corner Park.
It seems there is this song that was written by an oldies group called the Eagles. Winslow was made famous by a line in the prehistoric 1970's song Take it Easy.
The song line is "Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona"
Mama put us on here on the corner to demonstrate BOL!
Here is a short video that gives you an idea of why people stop by to visit the park.
We hope you enjoyed our little tribute to Winslow, Arizona.
The pawrents said we may get to see the little town for ourselves
during one of our CeCe Adventures next September!
Paws crossed we'll be standing on that corner in real life next fall!
Gail is thrilled to see Winslow, Arianna as she was a big Eagles fan and saw them live in 1977!

ReplyDeleteOh what fun!!! I do hope you all get to stand there for real... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
The name sounded familiar, now we know it is the song. Looks like a cute place. If we get down to the southwest, maybe we can stop there.
ReplyDeleteyou have the plan, and we are ready to see you standing on the corner. I would love to do the route 66 thing myself. can't wait to see what you see
ReplyDeleteNiece Rosy first love your heart Shades.
ReplyDeleteOMDs I was in the 2nd wave of Eagles fans when their best of CD came out.
you made me giggle 'prehistoric 1970's song Take it Easy'. I had no idea Winslow, AZ was real. I love what the town did. I really like the 'Girl from Yesterday' too. I believe it was song by Michel Schmidt the member with the longer hair. It is a very soulful song.
Hugs Aunty C.
Oooops Aunty was wrong it was Timothy B. Schmidt not Michael and he did not originally sing it I think it was Glenn Frey
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Our Dada was trying to remember which song talked about Winslow, but fortunately you refreshed his memory before he had to resort to using Google!"
ReplyDeleteMom remembers the song very well. What a fun stop!
ReplyDeleteLoved the video. I would love go there to stand on that corner. With all of you, of course.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Our mom started singing the song when she read the title of you post! We didn't know it was a real place.
ReplyDeleteWow! I remember when that song came out! I still love the Eagles and that song. Thanks so much for posting this.
ReplyDeleteOur Mom knows that song, and now she has it as an ear worm, BOL! You sure look spiffy in your Valentine sunglasses, Rosy! XOX Xena
ReplyDeleteHistory: Jackson Browne wrote the first verse of Take it Easy, but could not get past the first line of the second: "I'm standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona," Glen Fry, who had recently moved from Michigan, was sleeping on Browne's couch and offered to help, but Browne wouldn't let him. Finally, when he was ready to give up, he asked Frey what he would write and Frey said: "It's such a fine site to see, it's a girl my Lord in a flatbed ford slowing down to take a look at me." Browne handed him the song and told him it was his now.
