National Botanical Garden

Howdy effuryone! Welcome to Nature Friday, where we can meet some new friends and maybe share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This week, we are headed back to Washington DC to take a look at the National Botanical Gardens.

Mama was a bit disappointed in the National Botanical Garden, and thought our local Gardens actually had a better selection of blooming plants. She did find a few flowers she liked though!

Mama has missed the Camillas she had in California...

She was happy to see a nice selection of them in full bloom!

The had some pretty tropical flowers in their Atrium also.

Some pretty orchids....

...and this pretty bushy flower called a
Brownia although it is anything but brown!

Finally, here is an Asian banana tree!!

We hope you enjoyed our little visit to the National Botanical Gardens. Mama is sure they have a nicer selection of blooms in the late Spring and Summer, when the weather gets nicer!

We hope you get out and see some blooms this weekend!

We are enjoying the nature of Southern New Mexico today, and will be back to regular commenting on Tuesday.

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  1. Hi Rosy and Sunny,
Those are some pretty good blooms. The Asian banana tree is especially interesting. But home is best! Gail and I suspect your Mama was missing her you two pups during her visit to D.C.

Oh, some lovely hot weather plants to help combat the still too cold days here with The Grey! And you look so pretty, too, Rosy dear. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  3. It's always nice to see beautiful flowers in March! Mom has been to the National Botanical Gardens in DC and she loved it when she was there over 30 years ago.

  4. The flowers with the water droplets are always so beautiful. The Asian banana thing is really interesting. We have never seen such a thing. No flowers here. We are getting snow through the middle of next week. We are all excited about it but Mom is wondering how to keep it shoveled. We have some volunteers to do the driveway, so that is covered. Have a fun time with CeCe!

  6. Hi - those camelias are truly magnificent; even better photographed with the raindrops on them.

  8. Those are all such pretty flowers. We're getting about 5" of snow this weekend so there will be no blossoms to find here.

  9. Having been there many many times, it can be very "seasonal", sorry you didn't see the best of it as it's often quite spectacular.
