Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 2025

Mama here today, on Thankful Thursday, to celebrate our Angels on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.....

Always in our hearts:

Bilbo
5/2001-6/2017
Our first "furkid", Bilbo was our schedule keeper and our intro to "special needs" pups. Most of all though, Bilbo taught us that there is no such thing as "just a dog".

Dory
12/2003 - 4/2017
Dory stole our hearts from the first moment we saw her. She was our cheerleader, my muse and the very first Daddy's girl. It is still hard to write abut her and not shed tears, but now I can smile at the memories as the tears fall.  Dory taught us what having a "heart dog" is all about.

Jakey
3/2006-1/2023

We knew Jakey would fit into the pack perfectly the first time he showed his belly to Ed. When he joined the pack, it was as if he always belonged. Jakey taught us what a true snuggle buddy can be(especially during a thunderstorm or fireworks ;-))

Arty
5/2010 - 11/2021
This little guy came to our pack unexpectedly as a foster fail. A true Shih Tzu, his attitude was unrivaled! He was my road trip bestie on more than a few cross country trips and the biggest doggie fan of Rving. Not an RV trip goes by when I don't think, "Arty would have loved this".  Arty taught us to "always bring your dog with you".

Thank you for joining us to celebrate the lives our special Angels....

Balloon Happies....kinda

Nothing makes Mama happier on our morning walks than seeing hot air balloons.

I don't mind them either, as long as the balloons are far away...

Mama is double happy when she sees colorful balloons with the moon in the background, like these.

If Mama is happy I am happy too!

Sasebo Gardens in August

Howdy! Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. Today, I'm here with Flossy the Flamingo to take a gander at what August looks like at the Sasebo Japanese Garden (part of the ABQ Botanic Garden).

The paths are still surrounded in green and mostly in the shade, Mama says it is pretty warm outside, even in the morning, so the shade feels nice.

Japanese Anemone is blooming everywhere. From pretty little buds like these....

Blooms in the shade....

...and sunny blooms, these pretty pink flowers made Mama smile all morning.
They are my favorite color, so you know they made me smile too!

This purple Flax also seems to be big bloomer this time of year!

Those sure are some pretty flowers, aren't they Flossy?? Now, let's take a look at some of the waterfall and its foliage.

The waterfall area is still lined with green, Mama says it's still to warm for the leaves to be changing.

The koi and ducks still like swimming around. This Summer, red crepe myrtles have popped up here and there too!

We'll leave you this week with a dreamy look at some Japanese Maple leaves along with a video Mama made a video of her latest walk:

Thanks for joining us for this month's walk around the Sasebo Japanese Garden. I know we are enjoying seeing how the Garden changes every month.

We hope all our friends get out and experience some nature this weekend!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

Blame it on the Weather on BWW

This year, my leggy has been a bit more sore than it has been the past few years. Mama says her joints feel the same way. She thinks it might be that we have had more rain and humidity than usual.
In other words, we are blaming it on the weather.

TC captured some of these rainstorms and we thought it might be fun to show you some of the weather drama we get in our corner of Blogville.

(As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE)

We know it's been hot around the world this Summer, but have you gotten much rain in your corner of Blogville??

Lake Life - The Mississippi River Headwaters

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. A sincere thank you to all who have visited this week and followed our Minnesota visit with family. I promise the pups will return Monday.

On our final day in Minnesota, we took a ride out to Itasca State Park and the Mississippi River Headwaters. Where the river begins its journey

Here, 1475 feet above the ocean,
the mighty Mississippi begins
to flow on its winding way
2552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico.

Itasca is the oldest state park in Minnesota, established in 1891. Not only is it the location of the start of the Mississippi River, but is the home to many beautiful trails. We had a great time exploring a trail leading to a fire tower.

Along the way, I got to admire some cool fungi....

Since we rarely see any kind of mushroom here in New Mexico, this was a wonderful treat.

I saw some beautiful blooming jewel weed

This dogbane with its pink striped curly blooms were everywhere

...as were the yellow avens.

Believe it or not, this is actually a species of hazelnut. When you peel the green casing away, there is a small nut inside.

I noticed some pretty columbine flowers and was amazed at how much smaller they were compared to the ones that grow, not only here, but in California.

The kids had a blast climbing the Fire Tower before we started the trek back. (This fire tower is retired, most Minnesota fires are now spotted by satellite)

This was our second trip Itasca State Park, but our first hike. I definitely can see us coming back again next year to see what other beautiful trails we can find.

We had such a marvelous time visiting with family in Minnesota, and would recommend the Park Rapids area to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to get away and live the Lake Life for a bit~

We hope all our friends get out and explore some kind of nature this weekend!
