Cactus Cutie on NFFF

Welcome to the wonderful Friday each month where Nature Friday comes together with YAM Aunty's FFF!!  Make sure to visit YAM Aunty HERE to get the Rulez and join the FFF fun!!

Today, we are looking at some of the Cacti found in the ABQ Botanical Gardens! It is amazing how well most cactus grow here in the dry high desert climate!

Although I do know better than to touch them, I think the barrel cactus is pretty cool looking....

Here is one of the bigger barrel cacti

Mama likes this cool cactus that is growing out of control.

These specialized cacti are kept in a big terrarium so they can keep them warm in the wintertime.

We see these everywhere when we drive through Arizona, they are the Seguaro Cacti, usually they have "arms" sticking out.

They also have this cool looking flower cactus...well, Mama says it's a succulent.

This is a Rosa de Pedra, or Rose of Stone, succulent plant.

It's such a pretty color, don't you think?? I think this might be my most favorite cactus, flower, succulent plant!

Thanks for joining us for a look at some of the Cacti found at the ABQ Botanical Garden!!

We hope all our friends get out and see some nature this weekend!!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  3. The cactus is such a cool plant and it was mom's very first houseplant!

  4. They are interesting plants. Mom had a big house cactus but cat bro Bert used to fight with it and it eventually died. When Mom spent her first year in college in Tucson, AZ, she tripped and fell on a big cactus and got a thorn in her behind. She could not sit down for days as the thorns have something in them that causes an infection. Still, she enjoys seeing cacti.

Beauties! I adore cacti and succulents... many years ago (last century!) I used to collect and cultivate all sorts of varieties. That Stone Rose, though, was not one of them, but if I had known about it, would have added it to the collection for sure - it's gorgeous! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. I love the succulents, and home Depot has dozens of different ones and my black thumb has killed a few trying to grow them. I gave up. I do love this one and that wild climbing cactus looks a lot like our night blooming cactus that left us when Milton messed with the tree it climbed in

  7. Senorita Niece Rosy OMDS OMDs I love love your sombrero and all lthe cacti Jades are my most favorite indoor succulents....WHY because AC is prone to give way too much TLC to plants. AC does best with plants how require no TLC just sun and water once a month

  9. Lulu: "Our Dada loves cactus and has a bunch of them in the rock area out front! Our Mama had an accidental close encounter with one of them a few weeks ago, but she's fine."

  12. What amazing plants! We have Rose of Stone growing here, Mr. BA has it in his garden. It looks like a flower itself, but it does put out a bloom once a year.
