Blogville Picnic Deets!

Hi All!! Jakey and I are here together today to tell you more about the Blogville Picnic!

Make sure to fill up a picnic basket and join the fun!!
We are hoping Abby Lab will be driving around in the Blogville Food Truck (with her Daddy's help of course) with some delicious picnic foodables you can pack!

Now....here is the 411, the deets, the information...you know, 

the SCOOP on how to be a part of the fun day! 

As you will see, there are a few different ways to take part in the festivities!!

One way is to host an event!!

Jakey,  why don't you tell everyone how to they can host an event??

Hosting an event is pretty easy peasy! 

First, think of a fun event you might like to host! It can be a traditional picnic game like a potato sack race or a relay race OR it can be something unique and original! You know,  a farting contest or maybe a fishy eating contest to see who can eat the most in one sitting!! 

After you have a game picked,  let us know and we'll put it on the Activity Sign Up Sheet.  We'll use this to keep track of who is hosting what!  You can click  HERE or click on the badge on our sidebar to get to the sign up sheet and see who has signed up! If you have a dead lion for pictures for your activity, let us know and we'll put it on the sign up sheet too! We suggest you pick an event to host in the next week or so to give everyone a chance to sign up!!

Then, promote your activity with a blog post! You can ask for pictures, or just let people know what you have planned!  We will also be doing updates here every Monday until the picnic to keep everyone up to date on the new activities being added (and any dead lions that might be coming up)!

Finally, on the day of the picnic, link up to the Activity Transporter (Blog Hop Linky). This way Blogville will be able to stop by and watch all the events!

Please note,  these events can be hosted by dogs, cats, bunnies, Aunties, mousies...even birdies!

As long as you have a blog, you can host an event!

Flowers Around da 'Hood!

Today I, Jakey, and my little furiends are celebrating flower Friday by showing you all some flowers we have been seeing bloom around the neighborhood!!

Here are some interesting yellow flowers that look like some kind of lupine...but they were growing on a bush!

The hydrangea is starting to wither on some bushes...

I love August in our neighborhood, the weather is cool and breezy and the rain hasn't started up. This means Mama takes Arty and I for walkies every day!

We see lots of roses blooming in our area almost all year round...here is a purdy reddish orange one!

These beautimus Butterfly Iris's have been blooming most of the summer...

These cuties were barely two inches round!

Mama loves their colors!

Is that a squirrel over there??

Sorry, I digress...

I love the little sunshine in the middle of this pink beauty!

Thankful Thursday

 Today we are thankful for something that helps me keep an eye on the neighborhood while staying comfy....

 and where I can wait for Daddy, and take a nap if I get tired....

Playing Travel Guide in San Francisco!

This week I, Mini Dory, will be starting a three part Travel Tuesday Adventure about my recent stint as tour guide in San Francisco and a few surrounding areas! 

It all started when Mama told me her human BFF and her family were coming in ALL the way from the other side of the USA part of Blogville!

 Ms M and her family came to California all the way from the east coast of Pennsylvania. When I found out Mama and Daddy were going to be meeting up in the San Francisco for part of the trip I, being the gracious Mini Pup that I am, volunteered to have Mama photoshop me and carry me around be their tour guide! Boy did we have a few days of crazy fun!!

 We started the trip by taking a tour bus around the city to make sure we saw all the pretty sights!!

 We saw tons of very cool architecture while we were touring the city! Did you know San Francisco was home to 215 historical landmark buildings, 10 historical districts and around 14,000 Victorian homes??

 It is so awesome to see the historical buildings mixed in with the modern skyscrapers!!

 The Transamerica Pyramid(that pointy building above) is the tallest skyscraper in San Francisco FOR NOW, the new Salesforce Tower will surpass it as soon as it is finished!

 Next time Mama and Daddy take me to San Francisco to visit, I want to explore more of Chinatown! Did you know that the Fortune Cookie was invented in San Francisco?! 

Did you know there are approximately 44,000 streetlights in San Francisco?? Lucky for us, Mama didn't insist on taking pictures of every single one!

 We made sure to get off the tour bus and spend some time at the Golden Gate Bridge! It's funny, they call it the Golden Gate Bridge...but it is red. What's up with that??

 The peeps decided to walk to the middle of the bridge and back to get some exercise after spending so much time sitting on the bus.  They saw some gorgeous views of San Francisco!! You can really see how hilly the city is from this picture!!



 
 Did you know the Golden Gate Bridge is almost 9,000 feet long(8,981) and it sits 746 feet above the water?? It is also one of the most photographed bridges in the world(especially by Mama!).

I made sure to take a ride one of the famous San Francisco Cable Cars! 

Mama always sings the Rice-A-Roni song when she sees these...silly Mama

 Before we went back to the hotel for the day, we made sure to stop in the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco!

 This year they are celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the famous "Summer of Love"! 

The Summer of Love happened in 1967 and was when lots and lots of young free spirits headed to the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco!

...and Mama says that is all I need to know about it.

Doesn't she know I have to listen to all that psychedelic rock and roll she listens to?? Sounds like the 60s were a very interesting era!!

 They had lots of very cool wall murals in this area of the city...

 ...and this store we stopped in before heading back actually had these big round discs that Mama said played MUSIC??? I thought music only came over Mama's phone!! 



 Mama introduced me to a friend she bought when we got back to the hotel!
His name was Mr. Bready Turtle. She said he would keep me company while the peeps went out to dinner....

Ooops.....wellll, I was hungry too!!
