Sunny here today to tell you how happy I was to travel with Rosy to the Benbow KOA for a weekend of relaxing and walking!
Rosy thought this would be the perfect trip for me. The campground is only about an hour South of us in Benbow, California! For those of you who don't know, I am not a fan of traveling in a moving vehicle. My drooly water works turn on and it can get pretty messy. Thankfully, I didn't drool much on this trip.
The campground is made up mostly of other camping spots so, we don't have any pictures(plus Mama may have been doing a bit more relaxing and less taking pictures).
She did get a picture of the Historic Benbow Inn though, isn't it pretty? Family owned, the inn opened in 1926. It was designed by the same architect who designed Jack London's Southern California home and visited by famous stars such as Clark Gable and dignitaries like Eleanor Roosevelt!
Ok Mama, now back to us!
We had a good time people barkin..,.I mean people watching. Mama says I am doing a little better at the constant barking, but I still have a ways to go...
Whatever
Don't let this fool you, Rosy also likes to bark...
but she also kisses up to Mama so she doesn't get in trouble as much!
BOL
We also went on walkies....
LOTS of walkies!
Rosy will be back on Friday to tell you all about them!
Needless to say, I spent a lot of time doing this after our walkies!
It was a quick weekend getaway, and before we knew it we were on our way home!
I almost forgot, Mama made a video of our trip....
Welcome
to that wonderful Friday each month where Nature Friday comes together
with YAM Aunty's FFF!! Make sure to visit YAM Aunty HERE to get the Rulez and join the FFF fun!!
Ode to a Tree
by Rosy
Hidey Ho will you look at me,
Standing on this big ole tree.
Is that mischief in my eye,
Mama says I cannot lie.
There may be a squirrel or some bunnies nearby
For we all know in trees like this they do hide!
I may be thinking of taking a stroll,
to take a look in some bunnies dirt hole.
But although you can't see, Mama has a firm grip,
so out of my leash I will not slip.
So I suppose I will sit in this big ole tree,
and dream of the big chase between bunnies and me!
We sure hope you all get to dream of chasing bunnies, or maybe really chase some bunnies, this weekend!!
Show
us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a
picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE to go to our Hoppity Page.
Today is the day that all humans spoil their pups with lots of treats and extra long walkies!!
YAYAYAY! But Arty, that sounds like kinda like every day around here. Maybe should make this a day where we are thankful we have such great pawrents who take care of us!
That's a great idea Rosy...and we can remember all of the doggies that came before us. We sure are thankful for Angel Bilbo and Angel Dory. They did such a great job of training Mama and Daddy on how to properly spoil...I mean care for their furry family members!
But...there will still be extra treats along with all that thanking...
Right???
Happy National Dog Day to all our Doggie furiends!!!!
Jakey here today to share the Michigan Nature Friday Finale with you! While in Michigan, the pawrents went with family on a nice hike in Hartwick Pines State Park!
Unlike the old growth Redwood Trees we have here, Hartwood Pines has pretty old growth Pine Trees. During this hike though, you'll see Mama wasn't quite as interested in the trees as usual.
You see, there had been a few days of rain and the forest was pretty thick and dark making it the perfect place for mushrooms.Well, you know Mama, like the moths and butterflies on the last Michigan NF post, the theme of this post should be Mushrooms in Michigan!!
Starting with the underside of a group of Oyster Mushrooms growing on a tree.
Hoof Tinder Fungi on a fallen tree.
Mama said when they arrived at the Lodge it was around 90F degrees. Four days later, when they took this hike, it was around 65F degrees, I guess this leaf thought Autumn was on its way!
Mama says this was the first of two baffling fungi finds!
Mama couldn't even get their identifications on the interwebs. If anyone knows what this is, please let us know in the comments. For now, we'll call it the mystery fungi #1
But wait, there's more that just mushrooms, right Mama??
Here we have a cute little toad....
...and a pretty moth!
Which brings us back to mushrooms and Mystery Fungi #2. Not so much the little orange, "eyelash cup" mushrooms surrounding it, but that big blob of fungi growing on the lichen.
Looks like...wellll, what a bear might have left in the woods, BOL!
Lastly, we have a pretty orange waxcap mushroom growing in the soggy remains of a soggy fallen log.
Thanks for joining me for a Virtual Michigan Mushroom hike through Hartwood Pines State Park(aka the Mushroom Capital of the World).
Here's wishing everyone a Fungi-Free weekend!!

This week Arty and I are thankful for our training walkies!! Mama and Daddy take us out every day to help us get to know each other(and maybe wear us out a bit before we do some more training).
Not only do we get our exercise in, but we can sniff the many smells outside (including each other). Mama and Daddy are pretty pleased on how well it's going. They know how stubborn we both are though, and expect setbacks along the way.
Rosy joins us occasionally too, the pawrents say she is something called a "distraction" I don't know about that but she definitely make things more fun!
Here's a video so you can see all the fun we have!
