My New Backyard
by Rosy

There are many things about moving that were hard,
First among them was my new backyard.
Would it be fun, would my spirits soar?
It was all that I tell you, and even more!

No stairs to climb down, no rain to be had,
all of these things made me so very glad!
The birdies land every where and fly when I run.
I could stay out all day chasing and never be done.

The only sad thing that causes me woe,
is Mama says in 5 or 6 months we'll have to go.
She promises our next new backyard will be even more...
Because she loves seeing my spirit soar!!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

Thankful for Travel Beds

When Mama first insisted we travel our floofy beds with us in the Rogue, we were a bit skeptical. But she promised we would thank her when we got to our new place....

Boy was she right!! All the downstairs floors are shiny chilly tile...and our floofy beds keep us nice and warm while we "help" Mama unpack!

We sure are thankful Mama insisted we bring all our comfy beds!!

Thank you Brian for hosting the

Travel Tuesday - Getting to New Mexico

On Saturday, January 15th, Mama packed us(and a bunch of other stuff) into the Rogue and we took off for New Mexico.

Unlike other road trips, this one was mostly driving "to get there." It had been a long time since we had all seen Daddy, and we were more than ready to start our new adventure!

We did try to make sure Mama stopped to enjoy some of the journey, though.

For instance, we have passed this restaurant lots of times when we  traveled south on Interstate 5 in California. Mama always said she wanted to stop and take pictures of it. This time, we made sure she stopped because we didn't know when we would be there again.

"Why would she want to stop here?" you might ask....

Because it's the only wind mill Mama has ever seen in California.
 BOL!!!!

Sunny offered to drive when Mama got back in the car.  Unfortunately, she doesn't have her driver's license, so Mama said no.

After we left California, the rest of the drive was on I-40, which runs parallel to(and sometimes merges with) Highway 66.

Rosy has made lots of stops along the historic part of Route 66, but on this trip she was in a big hurry to see Daddy(we hadn't seen him in 2 weeks).
You can visit Rosy's last Route 66 post HERE

We stopped at some very pretty Rest Areas

and spent lots of time on the open road!

....and after asking "Are we there yet?" like a million times....

We finally arrived in New Mexico!!

We are looking forward to showing you all around our new state. But first, Mama says she has a bunch of unpacking to do(Our furniture should be here today!!). So we'll be showing you things from around our temporary home and backyard.

But don't worry, soon we'll get to see(and show you) just how enchanting the Enchanted State is!!

Aaawwww - The Good Ole Days

Aaawwwww, remember the good ole days when we had a big bed to sleep in...

I know, Rosy, it's weird, since we moved here the big beds and our couches have been missing.

Don't worry girls. I talked to Mama and she says the big beds, along with our couches and the rest of our toys should be here any day now!

From Mama: Our furniture was delayed because our truck driver got COVID over a week ago. Luckily, he has recovered and paws are crossed we get our furniture any day now.

Nature Flashback Friday - Arcata Marsh

In our final California Flashback, I thought
we would visit my most favorite place to take a walk, Arcata Marsh!

This is the look I gave Mama earlier this week after a few days of cloudy/wet weather in a row. I have to say, going potty in the rain gets old real quick and for some reason Mama and Daddy have this "no potty in the house" policy they INSIST we stick to....

But I digress, when the sun came out on Tuesday I was thrilled when Mama suggested a Mama and Me hike at Arcata Marsh!

It was a beautiful day, and the morning sun even made the browns look cheerful!!

I have to admit, there was a spring in my step and flop to my ears as we hit the trail!

As usual, the birds were amazing!!
From the ducks.....

 To the shorebirds!

Plus, we also had a very cool sighting of a...

Red tailed hawk!!!
Looks like he had a rough 2020 too, doesn't it??

These three ducks look pretty comfy as they enjoy nice nap in the sun don't they?

The rains have fooled some of the flowers into blooming. I'm hoping this means we'll see an early Spring.

But Mama says I shouldn't get too excited because most of the scenery still
looks like Winter (Winter in California anyway BOL).

 Unfortunately, California Winters mean mud.

As much as I enjoyed my morning walk through the Arcata Marsh....

I don't know if I can say the same about the bath I got when we got home.
But being outside and feeling the sunshine on my furs as I hiked with Mama was totally worth it!!!

We hope you get some sunshine in your part of Blogville this weekend!!

 Extra! Extra!
We have arrived in New Mexico!
This is the backyard where we are
staying now. We can't wait to get back to visiting everyone next week!

Nature Friday Flashback - Pink Dahlias

Today's flashback is about my most favorite color and my most favorite flowers!

Rosy here reporting from Sequoia Gardens to let you know the Dahlias are blooming like crazy! In fact, they are blooming so much it will probably take up most of our August Nature Fridays! This week let's take a look at all the different pinkish variation dahlias I found!

Here we have a pink dahlia with pointy petals...

Don't worry, there are lots of pink ones with curved petals too!

We found a few different pink dahlias with yellow mixed in too!

This one kinda looks like a Mama hugging a baby dahlia..

...and these look like dahlia fire works, don't you think??

Here are our favorite pinkies...

These pink petals almost looks painted onto this pretty bloom!

This pink is so dark, it's almost purple.
We also like the way the petals are spiraling in the middle.

Mama and I both picked this one as our favorite...it is almost the pawfect pink!!

Thanks for stopping by and we hope these flowers helped bring color and warmth into your Winter Day!

Tomorrow we hit the road for New Mexico!!
We will have one more flashback post next Friday
(but we'll make sure Mama includes another picture of us). We can't wait to catch up with everybody!
