Welcome to Joshua Tree National Park! (kinda)
Welcome to the beginning of what we think will be more than a few Nature Fridays where we'll be showing you around this beautiful park!
This Friday and next Friday we will show you our favorite parts of the park, and then we'll be sprinkling in a few more Joshua Tree posts here and there for awhile.
(Mama took a LOT of pictures!)
Today, as we drive through the park, we want to show you the GREAT BIG rock formations we explored.
It's funny, we thought Joshua Tree National Park was all desert. It was hot and during the day it got up in the 90s(F). Still too hot for hiking, but not the 120F temperatures Arty experienced when traveling through the Mojave Desert. Plus, is seemed like everywhere we looked, there were rocks and mountains, not desert!
Look at the different kind of rocks we saw...
There were great big rock piles like this all over the park. Daddy was amazed and said it looked like nature had a BIG dump truck full of extra rocks and emptied it in the middle of nowhere. It must have taken millions of years to form these rock piles...How cool is that?!
Then there are these beautiful boulders that seem to be placed in perfect piles randomly around the park....When I asked Daddy about these, he showed me a video that might help explain!
For those who want more information, you can read all about it HERE
No matter how the boulders were formed, they sure are beautiful!!
I especially like this pile, the rock on the bottom left side almost looks like one of those big clams on the bottom of the ocean!
It seemed like everywhere we looked we found pretty rock formations!
We even found a beautiful formation with a picnic area, where we ate our lunch!
Just look at beautiful boulders, it looks like someone chiseled a pretty design on them, but this is actually part of the formation!!
We had a pawsome time exploring the rock formations in Joshua Tree National Park!!
Join us next Friday when we go in search of the desert!!
Wishing you all a pawesome weekend filled with adventure!
Show
