Pawrental Thankfuls - Happy Sunny Days

This year, we are celebrating November with gratitude. Today we, the LLB pawrents, are thankful for Sunny's Sunny Disposition.

Over the past year, Sunny has had fewer "bad moments" and many more positive, Sunny moments. Her interactions with us(as well as Rosy) have been such a blessing!

From everyday moments interacting with Rosy and us as a pack, to evening upside down baby moments(that even Rosy isn't comfortable with), we can't express how thankful we are to have a happy, adjusted Sunny in our lives!

Travel Thankful for Day Trips

This year, we are celebrating November with gratitude. Today I(Rosy) am thankful for spontaneous day trips!

Last week, the pawrents decided a Road Trip was in order. I am so very thankful I got to go with them!
(Sunny stayed home to protect the house from rogue squirrels)

They wanted to go someplace fun, but not to far away...so we revisited Grants, New Mexico!

You might remember that we visited Grants with CeCe earlier this year. We saw lots of Lava, a volcano and an ice cave! This visit, we saw a totally different side of Grants.
The Route 66 and Railroad side!

Grants actually began like a lot of the other New Mexico train towns. A trio of brothers named Grant were given a contract to build part of the Atlantic/Pacific Railroad. It was settled as Grants Camp in the 1880's and evolved into Grant City, and finally ended up as just Grants.

In the 1920s, the main business in Grants was railroad logging transporting timber from the Zuni forest to Albuquerque. After the logging boom ended, the area dabbled in farming(even becoming the Carrot Capital) and Uranium Mining.

They still have trains running through the town, but  mostly known  as the Gateway to Lavaland. If you missed our post about Grants lava beds you can read it HERE

Route 66 ran through Grants and helped draw visitors to the
area until Interstate 40 was built. Unfortunately, most of the hotels, shops and restaurants built for expected tourism have now shut down.

It was a beautiful little town to take a nice leisurely walk!

Luckily they had a KFC, so I got a little chicken snack before we headed home!

We had a great little road trip and are thankful to be able to visit and learn more about the small towns in New Mexico!

Thankful Monday Aaaaws

This year, we are celebrating November with gratitude. Today we are thankful the pawrents decided to put the tree up early.

"I love the lights, but when are you and Daddy going to decorate it, Mama??"

I think they are waiting until next weekends football games, right Mama??

Until then, we are thankful to have all the pretty lights twinkling when we are relaxing on the couch!

Thankful for Snow Days!

This year, we are celebrating November with gratitude. It's also Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and maybe share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. Today we are thankful for snow days!!

Sometimes, it's hard to believe we live so far south. Especially after all the snow that fell last week!!

Last Thursday, 11/7, we woke up to THIS!

We got around 4 inches of very wet snow overnight, and an additional inch or so in the morning!

The trees and cacti were covered in white stuff!

It was such a beautiful sight to see..

BUT because there was so much wet snow, Mama wouldn't let us out unsnoopervised!  The snow had all the trees weighed down, and a few branches even broke under the weight of the snow so Mama thought it would be safer if we didn't do snow zoomies or snow barkies.

Like this branch from our Crab Apple Tree!

It was strange seeing so much snow on trees that still had their green leaves!

There were even flowers still blooming on some of them!

Our Maple Tree still had Autumn leaves holding on to its branches.

Mama took a million billion pictures of them, and we're pretty sure you'll see more of them in a future post.

Luckily, the storm didn't last as long as the weather humans said, and we even saw some blue sky later in the day!

Mama made a movie(SURPRISE!) to document the storm

We are very thankful to experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountain f
oothills and the weather surprises living here brings!

We hope you all get out and see some nature this weekend!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

Pawrental Thankful Thursday

This year, we are celebrating November with gratitude. Today we, the LLB pawrents, are thankful for Rosy and all she brings to our pack.

When sitting down to write this, so many thankfuls come to mind when we think of Rosy. From her excitement when heading out for a walk with her Daddy, to her nighttime snuggles when she sleeps next to her Mama at night.

But what we have always been the most thankful for is her ability to adapt to her "pack change." During Angel Arty and Sunny's strife, the loss of Arty, the decline and loss of Jakey and especially through Sunny's struggle with aggression, Rosy has never shown anything but understanding.

We are so thankful to have such a loving and patient girl in our pack and our lives!

Happy Tasty Tongue Out Tuesday

This year, we are celebrating November with gratitude. Today we are thankful for tasty snowflakes

I, Sunny, knew there was something strange in the air last Wednesday morning when I went outside and saw how red the morning sunrise was.

You know what they say...
"Red sky in the morning, little Lhasas  take warning"
...or something like that.

Whatever it means, a few hours after the sun rose the snow started to fall!!
Since we hardly ever get snow, Mama and I decided we better get some photo shoots done while we could....

....and maybe taste some snowflakes too.
I had forgotten how good they taste, just like little icy cubes!

Have you ever tasted a snowflake?

Stay tuned this Friday to see just how much snow we got!
