First Day in Page, AZ

On Day three of vacation we packed up CeCe and JeJe and hit the road for Page, AZ

As usual, we slept for most of the 3 hour trip. When we fell asleep, we were surrounded by trees, flowers and forests......

but when we woke up....

We thought Daddy made a wrong turn and we had ended up on the moon!! Craggy rocks, canyons and mesas surrounded us!

Boy were we glad to see this sign and realize it wasn't the moon just Page, Arizona!

The pawrents had so much they wanted to see in Page. After we set up camp, they left us in the air conditioning of CeCe and left to see the pretty Horseshoe Bend rock formation.

Horseshoe Bend is what scientists call an entrenched meander

The pawrents mostly just thought it was pretty darn cool! They were glad they left us in air conditioned Cece as it was a 3/4 mile(each way) hike in 92 degree sun to see this beautiful sight!

They made sure to make it up to us though. After dinner, the temperatures fell into the 70s and we all went for a nice family sunset walk around the campground!!

Trains and Conductor Cuteness on TT

After Rosy's morning adventure to Walnut Canyon, the pawrents went "Train Watching". Apparently, this is when you find train tracks and wait for trains to go by...

It didn't take them long to find a place to stop and see a bunch of trains go by!

I bet you'll be surprised to know that Mama made a movie/slide show of the trains she and Daddy watched:

Today we wanted to explain why you might not see us on some of our vacation adventures. As you know I, Sunny, am much more into chillaxin' in Cece than adventures. Although I did join the family for one exciting adventure(more on this Friday), I mostly caught up on my naps and let Rosy enjoy early morning adventures with the pawrents.

I, Rosy, would have gone on ALL the adventures but it was "VERY HOT" during our time in Page, AZ. Even in Williams, I was only allowed to go on morning adventures because of the heat. We did go for long walks in the mornings and evenings and even a few afternoon walks during the cooler last couple of days. During the middle of the day I stayed in cool Cece and caught up on my naps.

It was nice to be able to catch up on our rest in air conditioned CeCe and joining the pawrents when we could for the occasional adventure during this vacation.

Nature Friday - Walnut Canyon

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and maybe share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This week I'm going to show you some of the sights I saw while hiking the Walnut Canyon rim trail on our first vacay day. Walnut Canyon is about 10 miles west of Flagstaff AZ.

Walnut Canyon was formed from Walnut Creek(waaaay down there at the bottom of the canyon) millions of years ago. Native Americans resided in the canyon between 800 and 900 years ago. The ruins of the Native American dwellings are still there, along with some petroglyph drawings. Mama really likes the fact that only a few of the ruins(out of 300 or so) are open for viewing to preserve the Native American history.

Unfortunately, cuddly puppies like me aren't permitted on the trail to the ruins. Don't worry though, the pawrents and I enjoyed a nice nature walk around the rim trail.

So not only did we get to see these beautiful canyon views....

....we also admired the beautiful flowers like these pretty yellow flowers, along the trail.

I haven't seen Indian Paintbrush flowers before, they sure are pretty aren't they? Mama says she used to see them every Spring when she lived in Texas

...and finally,Mama's favorite, vibrant purple wildflowers!

We had so much fun on our hike. After we left Walnut Canyon we headed out for some train watching...but more on that next week!

Thankful for Daddy

This week on Thankful Thursday, we are thankful for our Daddy. He drove us 87,000 miles around Arizona and got us back home safe and sound!

SQUIRREL!!! Wildlife Wednesday

Although I do squirrel patrol on a daily basis here in my backyard...

I am quite annoyed to report we have a sneaky squirrel who has been taking advantage of the hot weather quarantines our pawrents have in place, along with our time aways on road trips, to help itself to unlimited drinks of water at our fountain!
