Today we are celebrating Nature Friday AND, here in the Northern Hemisphere, it's the Summer Solstice/First Day of Summer!
We are celebrating with pictures of Mama's recent trip to Sequoia Gardens!!
You can see summer blooming in every corner of the garden!
The Daylilies are looking very sunny.
Here we have a "Love in the Mist" flower. Welllllll, that's what Google calls this blue beauty anyway. We think it looks like a cornflower!
This hummer is taking a break between flowers
But what Mama really enjoyed.....
...were all the Columbine flowers!
There were lots of different color combinations
Mama pawmises to take us along when she goes back to Sequoia Gardens in a few weeks to see the Dahlias in full bloom!
We hope you have the chance to get out and enjoy the first weekend of Summer!
Show
us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a
picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE

ReplyDeleteAll of the flowers are so beautiful! Mom has grown Love In A Mist before. The pod that comes after the flower is full of seeds that you can scatter in your garden for the next year or you can dry them and use them in dried flower arrangements. They are great little flowers!
ReplyDeleteGood morning my friends and all your gorgeous flowers. I had no idea Columbine came in so many beautiful colors. The Love in the Mist is stunning with those CA skies

ReplyDeleteWell, Rosy, the Love-in-a-mist (and it is that - proper name Nigella) is part of the 'ranunculae' family - think buttercups or clematis. Cornflower is much more robust and is part of the 'aster' family - think daisies. The colour, of course, is 'cornflower blue'! So pretty - but the columbines are surely the winners here. Just gawjuss!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
We dread summer every year, but it is what it is. Thankfully, it has been really cool so far, but we are also drowning, another almost 2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. We always think of how much nice snow that water would have made. Enjoy your flowers, they are all super pretty.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Love in the Mist.. stunning and all the photos flowers are AMAZING. both the flowers and the photos of them.... i see the flower is Nigella, but i like the name Love in the mist. my favorite photo of today is.... drum roll here.....
