Canyon Controversy
by Rosy
We went to a park, and what did I see?
Tons of beady eyes looking at me!
Mama said to "Look at the beauty, the canyon, the skies"
All I could see, were those beady little eyes!

Daddy said, "It's about the pretty rocks, the beautiful canyon swirls"
"No Daddy" I exclaimed...."It's all about the SQUIRRELS!!"
Daddy held my leash tight, the squirrels were so swift...
and Daddy was afraid I would chase them off of a cliff!

What the pawrents thought should be a relaxing walk around the Canyon rim
Turned into a test of will between me and "them"
"They" won in the end because we didn't go far...
as the pawrents decided we should go back to the car!

From Mama...If you ever have a chance to visit the Grand Canyon with your pup, please beware, squirrels really are everywhere~More on the Grand Canyon next Friday.

  1. we think squirrels rock too... so they maybe are there for rocking the rocks?

  2. What a shame Rosy that your Grand Canyon hike was curtailed by the presence of tree rats! In Aberdeen, the non-native grey squirrels have all been 'disappeared' in an attempt to invite back into the city our smaller and prettier native red squirrels. Perhaps we need to send our 'squirrel management' squad across to Arizona!

Oh dear, Rosy... well, I guess you had your fun in a sort of way, just as the pawrents had their fun in a sort of way. Neither satisfied, but all can say, "We wuz 'ere!" Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. One of these days we hope to visit there. We need to get into a trial in that area but this year we didn't get a spot. Rabbits are the worst for us. Squirrels are interesting but we know we won't get them. Pretty shot of the canyon, though.

thank goodness for strong Daddy 'cause I know you were itching to give those squirrels scratchin'

  7. Beth I emailed Sandra earlier this morning got this short text
"Would you pass the word on to as many as you can that our power is off don't know when it will be back. I can't email because uses my data. We're okay but everything is a mess our cars are trapped inside the garage and we're trying to find a way to get one out because Bob has a 4:00 doctor's appointment. No permanent harm done but not good we're melting into a puddle and Beau is saying please Mommy turn on the air conditioner"

  12. Rosy, we get it. Those pesky tree rats are really annoying.

  13. It would be hard to concentrate on the canyon if there are that many squirrels around, just begging to be chased. And they do seem to invite it with their teasing. Thanks for hosting Nature Friday!
