On our last camping trip, while staying at the Santa Cruz/Monterey KOA, we took a day trip to Greyhound Rock County Park and spent some time admiring MY ocean(aka the Pacific Ocean)! Greyhound Rock is just north of Davenport California, and is named after the big flat rock in the photo above...although we're not sure why.
There is a GIANT mountain we had to climb down to get there, but WOW,was it worth it!!
On one side, was this beautiful inlet surrounded by cliffs....
Isn't it beautiful??
On the other side there were pretty tide pools!
These two seagulls kept their eyes open for crabbies, but we didn't see them catch anything.
We had a great time playing in the sand!
We also saw some cool Ice Plant flowers, there was this pretty yellow one....
and this beautiful purple flower with the yellow middle!!
Here is a picture of Daddy and Rosy as we walked back up the hill in front of a hill of ice plants(and flowers)!
There were also bunches of yellow lupine flowers!!
Both the ice plant flowers and the lupine looked especially beautiful in front of my ocean!
I have to say there is nothing quite like a day at the ocean to make me smile!!
We hope you all see some nature that makes you smile this weekend!!
oooh da ocean.... and we love that big rock... it looks a little like a ptrified stranded ship...
ReplyDeleteYour ocean is sure beautiful and so are the pretty flowers!
ReplyDeleteThe ocean sounds so wonderful. Maybe we will make it to a coast one day so we can dip our paws in. Bailie says it is pretty fun. Enjoy your time on the coast.
