Hi everybody and welcome to the first Nature Friday of September! It's hard to believe Summer is almost over, and Autumn will be here soon. Today, we are still celebrating Summer with a look at Benbow nature we saw during some of our hikes last weekend!
We did most of our hiking along the Eel river. Because of the lack of rain here in California this summer, the river is pretty low.
It's still pretty though, lined with Redwoods and other beautiful greenery. Mama tells us that in the winter and spring the river is dangerously full and fast moving.
We also saw a bit of wildlife! Look, over there in that tree!!!
It's an Acorn Woodpecker!
You can almost hear him singing to his girlfriend, can't you?
We crossed over the Old Bridge by the Benbow Inn.
Part of the old highway, it was built in 1931 as part of the Benbow Inn.
These are the stones we walked on, next Spring they will be deep in the river!
On our way back to the campground, and CeCe,
we saw some nice views too.
I wanted to go on the trail below....
but I didn't want Sunny to get too tired.
It sure is pretty though, maybe on our next trip we can go on this trail.
We saw some pretty Pink Lady Lilies too.
Mama included some footage of the sun lighting up the yellow center in the video she made for this post.
We wrapped up our hike with a little fireworks,
of the flower variety that is!
The best thing about all the hikes we took was they really tuckered little Sunny out, which is a win-win situation in my book!
Thanks for joining us for our nature hike, we sure did have fun! Mama made the video below with some more
pictures, along with some video of the fun we had on our trip!
You can also watch it HERE on You Tube.
We hope you get out and enjoy some nature this weekend!!
