Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This week, I am going to show you around Ute Lake, which is about 20 minutes northeast of Tucumcari. Saturday morning when we were thinking of what we wanted to do, Daddy suggested a hike at Ute Lake. When Sunny found out there would be a car ride involved, she decided a nice walk around the RV Park would be nice...followed by a nice nap.

After we got Sunny situated, the pawrents and I headed out to the beautiful Ute Lake!

It was pawfect weather for a hike! Blue skies and warm with a nice breeze coming off the water.

Ute Lake is about 13 miles long making it one of the longest lakes in New Mexico!

Plus, it has LIZARDS!!
Daddy says I scared all of them away because I am so very fierce!

Mama loved the rocky shoreline. Ute Lake is a popular place for humans to do everything from enjoying all the natural beauty to hiking and water skiing!

We took a hike along the water for the first part of our walk. Mama told me there were supposed to be lots of fishies in the lake. I kept looking, but didn't see any.

After we explored the water's edge, we took a ride to see the other side of the lake.

This side of the lake has cliffs that look over over Lake Ute
(this is much better lizard hunting terrain, but I still didn't catch one).

It had pretty views of the sparkling water!

The water's edge was a little more rocky on this side too!

Before I knew it, it was time to head back to ArCe for lunch and to see Sunny!!

Thanks for joining us in our hike around Ute Lake, it sure was a fun place to visit!
We hope everyone gets out to see some Nature this weekend!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE to go to our Hoppity Page.

It is a beautiful lake and you had it all to yourselves which is great. What a fun little adventure.
ReplyDeleteits lovely and I am wondering if it is salty or fresh water. I think the rocks in the first few photos are maybe the prettiest I have ever seen. I love the way the water has rounded and smoothed them into natures work of art...
ReplyDeleteNiece Rosy, Dad and da Mama!! 'UTE' scored big time nature snaps on your hike at Ute Lake.
ReplyDeleteLovely nature from the tippy top of the sky to the tippy top of the lovely lake

What a beautiful place to visit. Too bad you didn't catch any lizards, Rosy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful hike and your little dog is so cute and good to keep up! Love the boulders and the color of the water. Just fabulous! Very different than my hikes here in Florida!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great hike! It's a beautiful place, I'm so glad you got to go and I hope the lizards came back after your beautiful, fierce self was gone. After all, the habitat needs them.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun area and boy, that lake sure is pretty and so are you sweet Rosy!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous hike, Rosy. And lizards...well that's just another bonus! Thanks for sharing the beautiful springtime desert with us.
ReplyDeleteOona: "Lizards are endlessly fascinating to Oona. She is sorry to hear you had to do all that walking and didn't get to catch one."
ReplyDeleteJava Bean: "Ayyy, but Oona, the walk is its own reward."
Oona: "Oona doubts that."
Ute Lake is very close to one of our favorite NM campgrounds, Conchas Dam. Looks like you had a wonderful time❣️
ReplyDeleteHI Rosy! That looks like a fun place to 'splore. Why are you on a leash? I'd sure be running around and lizard hunting if I was there. Maybe if I came with you, your folks would unhook you and we could double team those lizzies! XOX Xena
