We are so happy and thankful to be New Mexicans we thought we should find out what this Cinco de Mayo howliday was really all about! Rosy decided to call on that Miss Google lady that Aunty C and Beau's Mama is always talking about...
What did you find out, Rosy??
Well Sunny, it seems like Cinco de Mayo was originally celebrated to celebrate Mexico's Victory over France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 in the Franco-Mexican War.
Here in the United States we celebrate the Mexican American Heritage with parades and various celebrations nationwide!
Like Tacos for dinner??
That's right Sunny, we can also be thankful there will be chicken tacos for the whole family! A pawfect way to celebrate our first Cinco de Mayo as New Mexicans!!!!!

Rosy, well done on the research. We do not celebrate Cinco de Mayo here in the UK, but one can always hope for chicken tacos!

ReplyDeletethe only cinco celebration I have seen was the last couple of years at my workplace, they hung decorations and everyone brought food for the day.. now i am pondereing are the 5 of you New Mexicans, or New, New Mexicans. BOL B OL... which ever you are the hat is a hit and you all look adorable.

ReplyDeleteHappy Cinco De Mayo! We don't really celebrate but lots of bars have specials and so do Mexican restaurants.
