Today, we're celebrating the first Friday in August with a little bit of the Nature I've seen so far this Summer.
This little guy is a Rufous Hummingbird. He's little, even for a hummer! Mama says he's just passing through, hopefully he'll make himself at home here for a few weeks.
Look at how he changes color when the sun shines on him(or when he wants to show off for the girl birdies)! The orange on his neck almost glows!
We still have rosies blooming...both the red blooms
....and the pink blooms like the hot summers here in New Mexico
We have had a couple of other frequent visitors who are enjoying the New Mexico Summer
This is Fatty Fat Fat Frog. He visits our waterfall at night. I have to say, after my first taste of froggy, I have decided frogs are friends not food. Fatty and I have made a deal. Now, he mostly hides under rocks, and I mostly watch him.
Sunny introduced you to our roadrunner friend earlier this week. I have tried to chase him down to see if we can hunt lizards together. He keeps ignoring me though and eats every lizard he finds....
Sheesh...doesn't he know it's nice to share?!
Nom......lizards!!
Anyway, that wraps up all the this's and that's around our backyard this week.
We hope you all get out and enjoy some nature this weekend!!
Layla loves your photographs especially your summer outfit, you look so good in that hat. Thank you for the blog hop and have a wonderful weekend, woof
ReplyDeleteRosy, your Mama did a super job with her wonderful photos of that tiny little hummer. Please tell her Well Done from Gail and me. And Happy Nature Friday.
ReplyDeleteToodle-oo!
Nobby.
you have super guests in your garden... apart from da frog (but it could be a prince, maybe) we totally love the road runner... he really looks like the guy in the movie...

ReplyDeleteI agree with every one above, Rosy, this is a wonderfurs post and I can't believe how much of a nature park your new backyard has proven to be! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
You have the most beautiful backyard with the gorgeous roses and fun birds and frogs. Do you ever go inside? You have so much activity outside! Love you in your summer hat, Rosy!
ReplyDeleteYour roses are quite pretty. Stay away from lizards, they are creepy! Hope Sunny is recovering well and not in too much pain.
ReplyDeleteyou did a super job of this and that and or yourself being such a good model. Jake used to eat lizards, the others just chased them. Beau ignores them. You are having a most wonderful New mexico summer and we are trying not to be a little jealous of your fantastic back yard
ReplyDeleteNiece Rosy OMDs you are 87 kinds of adorable. I really and truly loved the up close of that beautiful itty bitty hummer. I have never seen one in the furs so this was a treat.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Kisses Aunty C
That is such a cute hummingbird, Rosy. We only have one kind on the east coast, but we love seeing them every time they visit the yard. Right now we have 2 males and one female that we think is feeding young so we should have a couple more to watch soon.
ReplyDeleteyour hat is so pretty!!! and I love a flamingo but toads... not as much
ReplyDeleteThank little hummingbird is adorably precious! And who wouldn't love to run alongside a roadrunner! I'm guessing your fat frog tastes a bit bitter. Blech, we think we'll pass on froggies. Here's hoping you have a furbulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the humming birds by our butterfly bushes.
ReplyDeletevery cool roadrunner. we would never have guessed they eat lizards.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all your fun nature Rosy! Lee and Phod
ReplyDeleteRufous hummingbirds: we get the very, very occasional one here, but we are out of range. That is sad. Loved those photos. And I have been following a road runner nest cam on Twitter: https://twitter.com/CrytzerFry/status/1555555651450851328
ReplyDeleteMom gives those tiny babies entire snakes and lizards! Except for the tiniest one that got a moth. And the sounds from the nest. And mom eats the shells. It's fantastic.
And you are as adorable as ever! <3
