NF - Florida Beaches

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. Today, I'm letting Mama show us some of the beaches she and Daddy saw while they were in Florida.

Thanks Rosy!
Since we were staying about an hour from the Gulf of Mexico when visiting the Tampa RV Show, we decided to take a drive to Florida coast to put our toes in the water!
While we knew Clearwater and the surrounding coast was where the major hurricanes landed last Fall, we were still floored by the damage we saw. The beach parking was scarce because of road and lot repair work, but we found a spot not too far from the beach.

A lot of businesses were still under construction, and many roads closed, as they worked to repair the houses that were damaged during the storms.

The beaches were still beautiful though, and the seashells plentiful.

But the Gulf Coast was only the first body of water Ed put his hand in while we were visiting Florida.

After spending 2 nights in the Tampa area, we drove across Florida(with a stop for lunch to visit my BFF in Central Florida) to the Jacksonville, Florida area and the Atlantic ocean!

The beaches on the Atlantic side of the state were just as beautiful....

....and Ed got to put his hand in the Atlantic ocean and the Gulf of Mexico all in one weekend!!

For your listening pleasure, here is a short video of both oceans:

(As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE)

We headed home from Florida refreshed and renewed.

But mostly happy to see us, right Mama???

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  1. Rosie - does this report mean you got left behind? Really? I'm sure you would have loved to dip your toes in the ocean.

  5. Mom wonders how Sanibel Island is looking as it was almost wiped off the map. Glad you got to see some beaches even though it didn't look very warm in Florida.

  6. OMDs... Dad put his paws in the Gulf and in the Atlantic. How cool is that? Great photos of the dip too. Loved the sound of the ocean in your video. I have a white noise machine with 5 sounds to lull me to sleep. I always use the ocean.

  7. before I married Bob, I used to take my chair and sit in those lapping waves in your video, and listen to the birds and let the water soothe me as is lapped around my chair. you probably drove by my son and his wife work place, they work on Clearwater beach, at the Clearwater Yacht Club.. Pinellas beaches are the best or they were when we lived there. we also love the Atlantic beaches, our favorite is Ormond Beach...

  8. How fun to touch two huge bodies of water in one day. You're so cute in your tropical gear, Rosy.

  9. This made me miss the ocean so much. I live in the mountains now and love it, but grew up in the Stockholm archipelago and later lived close to the California coast. I love that you could actually touch these two bodies of water in the same day.

  10. Java Bean: "Ayyy, we have convenient access to the Pacific, but it would take us quite a while to get to the Atlantic from here, I think!"
Lulu: "Your gnome friend is kind of psychedelic, Rosy. Like, groovy. And we know that the best thing about coming home for your mom and dad was being greeted with a pair of wagging tails!"

  12. You are making Mom think a lot about her much younger days when she lived in New England and regularly visit the beaches in the summer. It is so relaxing to just sit on the beach and listen to the water. Thanks for sharing your visit.

  14. Xena: Now there's a great look at nature. I've neve been to a beach and think I would be afraid of seeing and hearing that much water, and start to shake...
