It's the magical time of year where we have a variety of hummingbirds migrating through our area.
Rufous, Allen and Broad Tail Hummingbirds have all joined our Black Chinned hummingbirds visiting the feeders.
This gives us a bouquet of colorful hummers!
Yes Dolly, Mama made a short video...
You can watch it HERE on our YouTube channel too
Because we have had so much Hummingbird drama, and Mama has been doing a bunch of spying on the hummers with her trail cam, we will be featuring hummers all during August on Wings on Wednesday!
Do you have lots hummers this time of year where you live??
hummer summer... that is a good word combination... for a song or a movie

ReplyDeleteOh I could watch those feathered dancers all day! How lucky you are to have such visitors. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Hummers - always awesome!
ReplyDeletewe have never seen a hummer, in our yard or anywhere in the preserves. they might be here but we have not seen them. the video is so sweet, they just hover and eat and look adorable. but not as cute as YOU... don't let the shark bite you
ReplyDeleteMom remembers the hummers at her grandparents house up north on the lake when she was a kid. We saw one humming by our deck a week or two ago but we don't have bird feeders, so they don't stay here. They are super cool birds. The cat tried to catch a hawk yesterday, that was interesting but it didn't work out for the cat, the hawk flew away.
ReplyDeleteThey are such cute and wonderful birdies. We had one come to our picture window once because mom has red glass on the sill.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to live where you get to see different kinds of hummers. We only have the Ruby Throated Hummingbird, but we love them so much. Generally, we have one breeding pair that comes to our flowers and feeders all summer and then we occasionally see a migrating one or two in early autumn.
ReplyDeleteNiece Sunny OMDs what a variety of little GEMS you have. WOW And HB's have much better manners than our Ruby Throated...who find it very hard to share. For some strange reason they would rather keep each other from sipping...
ReplyDeleteBUT LAST NIGHT I HAD one of the most amazing HB experiences of all my years of feeding them
"I change feeder and sugar water every day about 4pm. Yesterday when I went out, there was one honey bee buzzing around so I step away to wait. I was holding the fresh feeder in my handππππ±π±π±two juvenile humming birds came up to the feeder I was holding. One a male with itty bitty red dot other was a female. They both swayed back and forth to the feeder in my hand sampling but not sitting. They were inches from me. This has been. Stellar HB season.
Hugs Aunty C
Charlee: "Ahhh, hummingbirds ... The pinballs of the sky!"
