Shark Week stories!

To wrap up Shark Week 2020,  we thought it would be nice to take you on a little walk/swim through a Coral Reef. Mama and Daddy say being under the ocean can be sooooo relaxing, we thought we should give it a try!

 SUNNY! Stop playing zoomies with the Porcupine Fish!!!

OK, so MOST of us thought it would be relaxing....

 Looks like Jacob is hanging out with a Trumpet Fish. Did you now they like to hang upside down to blend in with the soft corals..Cool huh?

Arty must be looking for the shark he was talking to the other day. Looks like the White Spotted Filefish may know where she is!

 

Oops!  I'm so sorry Miss Queen Angel,  I didn't know you lived here.

 Oh look, Arty found his shark friend. It doesn't look like she's too interested in being set up though, does she!

 SUNNY!!!!! Oh well, shark pups will be shark pups!

Thankful Thursday

 

Today I (Mama Beth) an thankful for documenting so many wonderful shark week memories. As I was looking back through these posts,  I fondly remembered one of Sunny's first Shark Week posts with Jakey:

Why you gots a shark on your head Jakey???

Well Sunny, this time every year there is this silly Mama tradition. A TV channel has a #SHARKWEEK and they play shark shows on TV for a whole week!!   For some reason, Mama feels like she needs to celebrate all these sharks by dressing us up in silly shark clothes, hats and bandanas.

There are a couple of perks though. First,  there is always lots of snuggling in front of the TV at night while Mama and Daddy watch the sharks, AND there are LOTS of treats involved for posing too!!

A little later.....   Just one treat??? 

Jakey said you would gimme LOTS of treats, Mama!!!

(Not really our) Backyard Wildlife Wednesday

This week, to celebrate Shark Week, I wanted to show you our Man Eating (well, bird eating) raccoon from our very own backyard! Unfortunately,  Mama axed that idea (she said it was not appropriate for public viewing). Instead, we have some video footage Mama took from the ABQ Aquarium earlier this week mixed in with some of her underwater adventures over the years:

 

OK, that was a nice video Mama....

but I still think the Killer Raccoon would have been more fun!

Flower Friday, Italy Style

Welcome to Nature Friday where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This time of year, nature colors turn to browns and grays here in New Mexico. In order to find a bit of color, I searched Mama's Italy pictures on her phone and found some pretty pictures of a garden she and Daddy visited.

Mama says it is the garden of some palace she tell everyone about in a later post. For now, I will just show you the flowers.

OH, and this duck. I am pretty sure he ran the place!

They had ponds with pretty water lilies

Mama says these are called "Bitter Oranges" and are 

used to make orange marmalade.

But the bestest flowers of all were, of course, the rosy roses!!

Look as this wall of colorful blooms!

Mama says they smelled  sooooo good!

This one is my favorite. It is the perfect mix of pink and red!

A storm had just moved through before Mama's visit, so the roses were a little soggy, but they were still beautiful!

Italy Adventures - Milan and Pisa

Happy Italy Tuesday! Thank you for joining me as I re-cap our trip to Italy. This week, let's explore a bit of Milan and that infamous Leaning Tower in Pisa.

On the way from Venice to the Lake Regions, we stopped in the City of Milan. Milan may be known for being the financial capitol of Italy and the Fashion Capital of the world, but we enjoyed the historical side of the city.

We got to see the Pieta Rondanini, the unfinished sculpture  by Michelangelo. He passed away in 1564 before he was able to finish it. 

We visited the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana where we viewed Raphael's sketch of "The School of Athens"created between 1508 and 1511 He used this sketch as a guide to the fresco located in Vatican City.

This was probably my favorite piece of the day. "Vase of Flowers With Jewels and Shells" was a delight to the eyes with over 100 species of colorful blooms!

...oh, and did I mention the architecture...OMD, everywhere you turned in Italy, the architecture outdid itself!

Speaking of architecture.....Let's take a look around Miracle Square in Pisa, where we stopped to view that famous leaning tower.

Made of white marble, the Pisa Cathedral and Bell (Leaning) Tower are beautiful to behold. Of course, marble is heavy and the grounds in Pisa are marshy and this contributed to part of the tower's foundation to sink.

So was born the tower that put Pisa on the map. From some angles it is hard to see the actual "leaning" and, thanks to repairs made during the late 90s, they did stableize the tower with added lead counterweights.

Here is a shot where the lean is much more pronounced.
