Nature Friday - We're Baaaaacccck!

Hi efurrybody, we made it back!!!!!

What fun trip we had through our home state of California!

We stopped in Lodi and Bakersfield on our way(and way back) to Joshua Tree National Park!

Mama is still going through the hundreds of pictures she took. Today, we want to give you a quick overview of the things we saw along our journey and will be sharing over the few Travel Tuesdays and Nature Fridays!

The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. We were lucky and had beautiful weather the whole time we were gone!

We saw a grove of orange trees...but the oranges were still green, so we couldn't taste any.

Of course, Mama found some pretty flowers, like this Lantana!

We got to hike in the desert

We saw all kinds of Palm Trees and desert scenes like this one.

There were beautiful walks through sandy, cactus lined trails.

Believe it or not, there was even a Joshua Tree(or 200 or 300 BOL)!

There were big dinosaurs...

....and, of course, two very cute puppies in their very own wagon!!

We'll be back next week to start to tell you all the details but we need lots of naps, and maybe a whole new vacation, to recover from this vacation!

Nature Friday with Sunny - Birdies Part 2-Land Birdies

Hello everyone Sunny here today being all pawfessional for Nature Friday....

Sheesh, this isn't me...Wait right here, I'll be right back...

Whew!! Hi everybuddy, it's the REAL me, Sunny here with some more birdy pictures Mama took over the summer! Now, Rosy and Mama forgot that today was FFF Nature Friday(well, Mama does have a traditional FFF HERE on her bloggy)

all the foodies would have disappeared faster than fast!

Gone Glampin'

Sunny will be back this week for Nature Friday, but we(and the pawrents) will have spotty internet while out in about in the Joshua Tree National Park(and a few other fun day trip places) and will most likely be unable to visit bloggies. No worries, we'll be back on the first of October to tell you all about our adventures!

Adventure Awaits Awwws

Arty here today to give you a couple more clues to where we are heading on

our big adventure tomorrow.

YAM Aunty has the closest guess so far. She guessed Death Valley or Arizona.

We are staying in California close to Death Valley.

Here's a big hint: The park we're heading to is named after a special kind of succulent!

Birdy Nature Friday with Rosy - Water Birdies

WOW...It's hard to believe it's almost Autumn already!

Mama has been hiking in a local bird sanctuary this summer and has accumulated a bunch of birdy photos. I let her know, since we are in between nature adventures, that she could share the photos here over the next couple of weeks.

This week we're going look at a few water birds:

Let's start with a couple of herons. Here we have a Great Blue Heron, Mama's favorite water bird!

Mama caught this Great White Heron walking the shoreline

These little guys are all over the marshy areas at low tide:

Mama likes watching the Lesser Yellowlegs skitter across the mud leaving their little talon prints everywhere.

You can really notice his little "yellow legs" in this picture. He looks a little chilly too, don't you think?

You won't believe the next birdy, just look at his beak...

It's humongous! This is a Curlew, a Long Billed Curlew to be exact....

I guess we know where he got his name, don't we?

BOL!!

This Snowy Egret is another one of Mama's favorites, they look so very floofy!

Let's wrap things up the way with another Great Blue Heron...They have such long skinny necks and faces, don't you think?

Thankful for Adventure

Mama is writing lists, getting extra groceries and putting clothes together. Looks like Rosy and I(Arty) are headed out on a big adventure in CeCe next Tuesday!
