Nature's Road Trip Views

 

 Happy Nature Friday! 

Today, we are thankful for the Road Trip Views we have seen this year.

Whenever we are on the road and looking out CeCe's big window, we can't help but notice the pretty skies.

 

 

 It seems there aren't two groups of clouds that look alike. From big fluffy cumulonimbus clouds like the one in this picture

 

 

 To these cool lenticular clouds.

 

 

 We also like to look at the pretty scenery we pass by

 

 

 Lots of green fields...

 

 and some cool ranches too!

 

 We are so lucky we have had the opportunity to drive by such gorgeous scenery from the road.

Rocky Mountain National Park on Nature Friday

Happy Nature Friday!!

Today, we are letting Mama share a few of her pictures from 

Rocky Mountain National Park. We have also included some fun facts about the National Park under each picture.

Did you know the Rocky Mountains got their name from a translation of a Native American Algonquian name "Cree as-sin-wati" meaning "Rocky Mountain"?

On January 26, 1915 Woodrow Wilson signed the "Rocky Mountain National Park Act" making it the 10th US National Park.

Fall 2020 brought wild fires to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Over 30,000 acres of the park were burned including the Grand Lake Park Offices and numerous historical buildings.

The Rockies sure are an interesting place, don't you think?

The Continental Divide begins in the Northern Rockies of Montana and continues into the Southern Rockies of New Mexico. It separates the the water drainage in the US with the western divide flowing into the Pacific Ocean and the eastern divide flowing into the Atlantic Ocean(via the Gulf of Mexico).

According to the National Park System, there are 147 lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the highest National Parks. The highest peak is 14,259 feet above sea level.

Weather conditions change rapidly in the park and it can snow as late as July and as early as late August.

(Mama and Daddy had sleet and snow during their ride through the park)

There is so much nature to see throughout Rocky Mountain National Park that Mama and Daddy didn't get to see. We bet its not too long before we go back!

A Touch of Autumn on Nature Friday

 

 While we were on vacation, we were lucky enough to experience the first signs of Autumn  

 

A pretty dandy-lion skeleton greeted us in Raton Pass.

 

 

 But mostly, the leaves were starting to change colors in Colorado.

 

 

Peaks of yellow were turning up everywhere!

 

 

 During our time there, we were amazed how fast the color spread.

 

 We didn't see many reds or oranges, except in the RV park.

 

 

 Mostly everywhere we turned, the aspens were displaying their autumn golds.

 

 

 Along the highways....

 

 

...and along the rivers we saw the beautiful colors! 

 

We really enjoyed watching the trees going from this....

.....to this!!

 

 

 Autumn is such a beautiful season, we have a little bit of color here at home, but not much.

Deer Me

We went for a hike, just Mama and Me

Along a cool lookout, to see what we could see

We heard there were elk, cougars and bears

Mama had warned me we had to beware!

The scenery was pretty, so lush and green

at first Mama missed, what I'd clearly seen

Down in the valley, instead of something to fear

Eating leaves from the bushes were two very cute deer!

Shush Mama, please, don't scare them away

she did as I asked, and there did we stay.

We watched as they carefully climbed the big hill

We watched and we watched and stood very still.

Finally, they were almost as far as we could see,

when I noticed the small deer looking at me.

I barely heard him speak...

FFF-The Sea and Me

The Sea and Me

We have an understanding, the sea and me,

For it is one place I'll never be.

I'll appreciate its beauty, there is no doubt

But I'll do it from the comfort of my comfy couch.

I do love fishies, I must say

but I take them stuffed, and mostly for play

Sometimes I utter a little bark

When Daddy and I play with my squeaky shark.

You see the sea is wet, and this may sound smug,

but it reminds me of sitting in a bath tub!

In closing I'll say, although some won't agree

Until the sea is dry, it will never see me.

Nature Friday - On the Road to Angel Fire

 

 Mama sure does love when we all ride in CeCe together so she can "document"(aka take lots of pictures)

our time on the road. The trip to Angel Fire was no exception.

 

 

 We went from our "semi-mountainous" part of NM....

  

 

 

 and then we(well Mama and Daddy) saw some big red rocks...

 

 

 

 Rosy and I mostly saw the inside of our eyelids....

 

 

 

 

 We also drove through some flatter grassy areas with big clouds...

 

 

...then we made our way slowly back into the mountains.

 

 

 

 As we made our way closer to Angel Fire, the mountains closed in...

 

 

 We heard a bunch of oooos and aaaaas coming from the front seat.

 

    

 

 Daddy even pulled over so Mama could take a nice picture of the river running into the mountains

 

 

 

 The best part was when we drove into Angel Fire the temperatures were 20-30 degrees cooler than home 

PLUS

there was still snow on the mountains!!!

 

 

Stay tuned next week when we do something Sunny and I like better than riding in CeCe,

 a nice nature walk!!
