Arty's Hikin' Flower Friday!!

Happy Flower Friday hosted by ME, Arty, filling in for the sleeping vacationing host, Dory!
Don't worry, Dory will be back next week because I am done dressing up like a girl with See Beautiful, Flower Friday!

Today I want to tell you all about the TWO hikes I got to take for my birthday!!

The first hike along the Elk River in South Eureka, just 10 miles or so from our house.

This was the first hike where I got to see Redwood Trees
...OMD...they are humungous!!!

There was a cool stream, just right for sticking my pawsies in.
Mama said it was too chilly to go swimming though.

I couldn't believe all of the peemail!
Not just doggies either, here I am reading a pretty racy love letter from a raccoon to a skunk!!

Marsh Forget-Me-Nots
There were itty bitty pretty  flowers....

..and a great big buttie-pillar (pre-buttie and all pillar)!!
Mama says she is going crazy trying to figure out what kind it is!
...Maybe Princess Leah or her Daddy know?

Just look at these pretty daisies...they were blooming everywhere!!!

The Foxglove is starting to bloom too....isn't it purdy??!!

Mama and I had a great time at the Elk River Trail....and even saw this covered bridge on the way home.

On Sunday (my actual Birthday, Day) I got to go for a hike with not only Mama but....
DADDY TOO!!!
Just the three of us went to hike the Trillium Falls trail just north of Orick, CA about 20 miles north of our house!!!

This trail was a bit longer with more uppy and downy hills. We made sure to take lots of breaks and stay hydrated so Mama we wouldn't get too tired...

There were lots of trees dating back to prehistoric times. Believe it or not, they are even older than MAMA!!

Monkey Flower
There weren't as many flowers on this trail because there was so much shade, but I found this little yellow Monkey Flower.

Here is Trillium Falls and yet another stream I  COULD NOT go swimming in because Mama said it was too chilly...
MOTHER!!!!
(you can tell I was not too happy!)

Great big tree..itty bitty Daddy and Arty
Sometimes it nice to have some alone  hiking time with Daddy and Mama...

Thanks so much for joining me for The Hiking Edition of Flower Friday!

I hope to bring you a few more of my hikes this summer, as long as I don't have to wear anymore dresses for awhile!!

  2. Wow Arty!! Those hikes took you through some gorgeous places!! We love those great, big TALL Trees!! Beautiful country where you live!! We have never been to that part of the country...mama has been to CA, but only on business trips...and that was to LA, Beverly Hills, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach. We would love to go back some time. It is very far from where we live though.

Thank you for sharing your part of the country with us!! xo Chloe and LadyBug

  9. Two amazing hikes with so much to see. Mom was at dinner last night with some friends who recently spent some time in the wine country - the lady went on and on about how amazing those redwood trees are.

Did you get any juicy tidbits from that note from the raccoon to the skunk - must have been a really interesting read:)
