Thursday Travel Tails - Utah

Hi!!!! Dory here, today we are going to show you a little bit of the very famous state, Utah!! Before we start, we wanted to see if you know what famous Blogvlle politicians were born in Utah??
Think about it, and we will answer the question at the end of the post!!

Utah is a beautiful state full of mountains, and canyons and even a Salted Lake!!

Arty, Mama and I stopped at the salt flats this year. Unfortunately,  it was too hot for all of us to spend time taking pictures.  Mama and I did have a couple of pictures from the archives to share from our 2015 trip. All that white stuff is SALT, not snow...how cool is that??!!

We enjoyed a very beautimous sunrise near Park City, UT!
Here is a bonus question for you all. What famous Blogville Flying Golden Doodles call the Park City, UT area their home??
See the bottom of this post for the answer!

We also enjoyed the big, big skies in Utah!!

Our favorite stop in Utah is the Echo Canyon Rest Area.  We stopped here both on the way out to Indiana and then again on the way back!

We all enjoy taking nice walkies to see the Red Rocks of Echo Canyon.

We even got to see a train!!!

Mama had us practice our modeling skills, no surprise there, right??!

We found nice views heading north out of Utah

So many things to see, so little time!!

We stayed in two different hotels in Utah.
Mama didn't take many pictures of them, but we wanted to give you a brief review of both.

This was one of the newer hotels, which meant nicer, more modern accommodations including more electrical outlets for all Mama's phones, computer, camera and other electronic stuff!

Also, did we mention that all LaQuinta's have free WiFi.
We especially enoyed that because we could get FaceTime with Daddy every night!!
From Mama:The La Quinta in Salt Lake City was a nice hotel situated near the airport and easily accessible from I-80.  The rooms are nice, clean and well maintained. The only issue was the smoke alarm in our room went off around 5AM for no reason I could determine, I took the pups outside for a walk to prevent them from waking our neighbors and notified the front desk of the problem as we passed by. When I returned to the room 5 minutes later it had been turned off AND they did not charge us for the nights stay because of the inconvenience, I was VERY impressed by this!

The LaQuinta in Layton was an older hotel, but it was fine for an overnight stay.  We weren't real happy because they didn't have a place close by to walk, but they did have lots of grassy areas and trees so we got to catch up on our peemail.
From Mama: Another older room which was nice enough for one night, but it wasn't as nicely maintained as some of the other older LQ's, but wasn't as bad as others :-).

The scenery at the rest stops in Utah was some of the nicest of all the states we have visited to far.

We mentioned how much we loved Echo Canyon, right??
All of the pictures we took were taken from the rest areas!!
They also have some fun walk areas for us pups at both the eastbound rest stop AND the westbound rest stop!!

Arty also had the opportunity to visit with the local prairie dog population and do some schmoozing!! That boy was campaigning in every state we stopped in!!

Utah is such a wonderful state full of so many different
things to see. Mama says we are going to try and talk Daddy into bringing us all back here one day!!

Did you guess the answers to our questions??
Mayors Murphy and Stanley are the famous Blogville Politicians born (and still living) in Utah
AND
Fiona and Abby are the famous flying Doodles living in Utah!

Thanks for joining us this week for our Utah Travel Tails, join us next week for our travels through Wyoming and Colorado!

  8. What a very very beautiful state and oh what lovely pictures you all have too.
Yay for La Quinta Utah!!! Now that is how a hotel is supposed to operated!!!
LOL LOL we had a chuckle about the smoke alarm. At the Red Roof Inn in Columbus ours started chirping at about 9pm. We called the front desk some one came took it down. As they were leaving I asked if they were coming right back. NOPE...they said they'd replace it the next day...and we got no compensation. I said it is against the law to have a room w/o a smoke alarm. The guy looked at me like I had horns.

Ghostwriter here: we're trying to get Chester to like car rides more. But all he does is crouch in the back seat and pant the entire way.
