Dog Days of Summer at Sasebo Gardens

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. Today, we are taking a look at what July looks like at the Sasebo Japanese Garden (located inside the ABQ Botanic Garden).

The dog days of summer have arrived and the temperatures are getting warm early. It was in the 80s earlier this week when Mama visited.

The paths are pretty much all shaded, this really helps the temperatures feel cooler. You see, here in the high desert, we have a "dry heat".  One of the good things about this is that it is a bunch cooler in the shade (....but in the sun it is OMD HAWT)!

There were these pretty blue berries growing everywhere!

Mama says these blue berries aren't for eating, they are actually part of the Oregon Grape Holly family.

The waterfall sure is looking pretty.

Here is a video Mama took of the Sasebo Garden...again, she SAYS it's short, but you know Mama!

(As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE)

Now, where was I....
Oh yes, the waterfall is surround by greenery, and Mama says there are ducks living near it too!

We have been getting some rain, so the creeks are flowing

Some of the paths are brimming with day lilies getting ready to bloom.

This beautiful Japanese Spiraea has the prettiest lacy pink blooms.

We'll wrap things up with this pretty scene showing just how green everything is right now!

Thank you for joining me for a July look at the Sasebo Japanese Garden, be sure to join me all next week to help celebrate my birthday!

Only 8 more days left until I turn 8!!

We hope all our friends get out to see some nature this week!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  2. we made jam from those Oregon grape berries one year. Not the worst jam ever but we prefer blackberry jam (or plum jam). Beautiful Japanese gardens and we will prepare to celebrate your birthday next week.
