This week we decided to give Mama a chance to show you the rest of the pictures she took along her hike in Bryce Canyon. All the orange rock remind us of the orange leaves of Autumn! We thought we'd give you some fun facts about Bryce Canyon to go along with the rest of the pictures Mama took!
Bryce Canyon was named after Ebenezer Bryce who began ranching in the area in 1875.
There are around 400 species of plants here in Bryce Canyon!
Foxes, Mountain Lions and Black Bears
live in Bryce Canyon....but they are rarely seen!
The natural forces that helped form the "hoodoos"
at Bryce Canyon were water, ice and gravity!

The rocks in Bryce Canyon are pretty young and date back to only 65 million years ago...Almost your age, right Mama?
On a clear day, the visibility at Bryce Canyon can be up to 100 miles!
On a clear evening, most rural parts of the country can see 2500 stars. At Bryce Canyon, one can see up to 7500 stars! How cool is that?!
Did you know that Bryce Canyon isn't a real canyon...it's actually a natural amphitheater!
Wonder if they have any "rock" concerts?

The Paiute Tribe believed that the Hoodoos formed at Bryce Canyon were really "Legend People" who were turned to stone by Coyote, the trickster god!
We don't have a fun fact for this picture, we just wanted to see if you also think the rock looks like a scary dragon head.
