Wearing Red for Women's Heart Day

Dory here today to tell you about my week and why Mama and I are taking part in the #GoRedWearRed Women's Day to help spread awareness of women's heart disease!

Last Saturday, Mama and Daddy went to the big city and were gone all day long! Well, you can imagine how excited the Boyz and I were when they got home, right?? We were all doing the happy dance when, all of a sudden I just couldn't stand anymore and I plopped down on the floor and wouldn't get back up! Daddy sat down with me, and stroked me and calmed me down, then Mama looked at my gums and saw they were pretty pale....Luckily, I perked back up after resting awhile.

As some of you might remember, I have a murmer in my heart.  So Mama was on the phone to the V-E-T right away!
Since I was back to being perky we didn't have to go in for a visit right away,  BUT we did go in on Wednesday night so I could get checked out!
I was a VERY good girl and let them listen to AND take pictures of my heart! The happy news was, although my murmer was a TINY BIT more (up to a grade 4 from a grade 3), there was no fluid surrounding my heart
HURRAY!!

The bad news was, I had to go back on Thursday and have an ECG.
Mama told me not to worry, she just had an ECG and it was easy peasy.
Mama found out recently that like me, she has a murmer in HER heart too!!

That is probably why she calls me her heart dog...cause we have matchy hearts!!

Anyway, I went back and had the ECG...because we live in the middle of
Nowheresville, we won't get the results until the Big City Cardiologist looks at it. We will keep you up to date!

So, because heart disease runs in our family, we are sharing our heart stories with you.

  8. You have a wonderful heart and you will be alright. There is medication if the murmur needs it. We learned a bit about that with Katie. She had an EKG too, and it was super easy. POTP to you and your sweet heart.

  13. Oh, that's skeery! I had lots of heart tests recently, with my heart skipping beats. I had an ECG, plus a super-skeery one called an echocardiogram. Momma had both of those tests on HER heart a few months ago too, so I guess we're both heart dogs!
