Squirrels - Friends or Foe?

It's that time of year when when Sunny and I have the age old argument of whether
Squirrles are friends.....or foe.

I, Rosy, am on the side of what I hope are most our readers...
Squirrels were born to be chased, barked at and if at all possible, eliminated at all costs!
This was passed down to me from Angel Dory, so it must be true!!

I, Sunny, am of a different ilk. Squirrels should be left to their own devices...and can even be friends to canines and felines alike! I have been known to sit on our back porch and let squirrels snack on our bird food when Miss "I must chase squirrels" Rosy is out on her bunny patrol walks with Daddy.
They aren't hurting anything...right???

What are your thoughts on squirrels??
Friends...or foes???

  2. Beau agrees 100 % with Sunny. He pays them no attention. they ignore him completely and run around on the groud like he is not there. All Five of our Angel Pups agree with Rosy! they are made to chase and bark at and to keep the yard clear of all living life that was not them. including birds an ducks, coons an possums

  3. All four of us side with Rosy. Squirrels are the enemy, they are mean and nasty, teasing dogs constantly. We chase and eliminate whenever possible.

  4. I vote to chase them out of your yard - especially if they're eating the food meant for the birdies!

I have a paw on both sides... in their wild place, let 'em be... but if they infringe boundaries and steal the food of the birdies, chase 'em... but only for fun - they are just doing the survival thing, okay? hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. Dear nieces
Aunty C has a 3rd idea squirrels were put on earth to be trainers for dogs and cats...they encourage you to run, jump and do squats

  7. Gail says that in the UK the red (native) squirrels are 'friend' and the non-native grey ones (intruders from North America) are foe.
I call them all cheats because they spoil games of chase by running up trees!
    Toodle-oo!

  8. They are tree rats. That's what our Angel Little Bit said. She loved watching then though.

    You're all so cute.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to you both and my best to your peeps. ♥

  9. Sweet and adorable doggies ~ not choice to 'chase or not' ~ I would prefer they leave the bird food alone ~ thanks, Xo

  10. My Sophie and Addi are squirrel obsessed! They spend most of their outside time with their noses pointed skyward, while they search the trees for those fuzzy tree rats!

  11. We enjoy watching the squirrels hide all their nuts this time of year, but they are usually gone from the yard by the time we get out the door. Chipmunks, on the other hand, are definitely meant to be chased!

  12. We have squirrels here girls and sometimes a feral kitty will chase one, mostly they just watch!

  13. Lulu: "Friend ... foe ... I just wanna chase 'em."
    Java Bean: "Same!"

  14. I, Chia, would rather chase a cat...as long as said cat runs and doesn't hiss at me, ya know? XOXOX Chia
I, Xena, wish I was more like Angel Lexi, who made friends with the cats in the back yard of the last house Mommy owned. It was fenced in and she would just wander around the yard with them. I, on the other paw, am a critter hunter! It runs in my blood. XOX Xexe
