Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. We are entering the final couple of "Nature neutral colored months" here in the High Desert. This week I though it would be fun to see what colors we are seeing in our backyard this month!
We aren't sure why, but these pretty yellow leaves are still holding on to the apple tree....
Looks like a squirrel left his apple core up in the tree too. Mama likes the shiny orange/red colors, so she left it there for now.
The birdies are a bit upset with the pawrents for closing the fountain down for the season.
(It is in need of some Winter maintenance, but should be up and running in a few months)
...and look up there...
A cute little birdy sunbathing on the old satellite dish!
There are still a few crabby apples the birds haven't found in our crabby apple tree .
....and finally, our Texas Yucca seed pods are opening up and letting the birds and wind spread their seeds!
Gotta run...Mama says it's dinnertime!
We hope you all get out and find some nature this weekend!

ReplyDeleteWell, I've failed you for the start of the year, not having a nature post ready this week at all... must do better! I enjoyed your winter colours. Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx
You found lots of beautiful nature, Rosy, and the little birdie is so cute!
ReplyDeletethe photos of you, dear sweet Rosy, made me grin from ear to ear... wish I could run like that. you have so many wonderful things in your yard. I think you and Sunny should craft a sign for the fountain, saying "closed for the winter" so they know what happened to their water fun
ReplyDeleteIt looks like wintertime there in your yard. This time of year without snow isn't the prettiest but there are things to see if you look for them.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad you have to shut down the fountain, but you wouldn't want it to freeze up. You managed to find some color in an otherwise brown environment.
ReplyDeleteRosy I would never have guessed that was an apple core. I agree with mama it is a nice color.
ReplyDeleteWe are late today I took UB to the doc he has a nasty sinus infection. We are waiting oh the pharmacy to fill the RX's
Oh I hope you find a very good and efficient maintenance guy for the fountain. DA Birds should offer to pay half of the cost. BOL BOL
Hugs AC
There is beauty even in the browns and grays, isn't there.
ReplyDeleteDo you put up a bird bath or similar so the birds will still have water?
Hello sweet Rosy! There sure was lots of brown going on and those birdies really will miss that cool fountain!
ReplyDeleteI bet there are millions of unique there,
ReplyDeleteRosy, we love to see you out in "nature." I'm kinda envious of your beautiful long tail. Hope you enjoyed your supper. XOX Xena
ReplyDeleteWe're in that drab and brown stage as well. I'll have to refocus on some of the rose hips and dried fruit instead of all the brown leaves that continue to blow into our garden. Have a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe leaves on the tree in the first photo almost look like a flower formation. The birds here are having a tough time between all the ice forming this afternoon and the bitter cold temps headed our way.

Java Bean: "Ayyy, it's still brown here, too! We have not gotten a lick of a rain yet this winter! Dada says it is because he and Mama put an actual roof on the hillbilly greenhouse to keep the tarp from bowing when it gets full of water."
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Hey, tell those birds we have a fountain for them and they should come here, okay?"
Lulu: "What are you talking about? We don't have a fountain."
Charlee: "Shhh! The birds don't know that!"
