Longhorn Fanbirds


This coming Saturday is the start of the Texas Longhorn football season!! Today, on Backyard Wildlife Wednesday, we are celebrating with some Longhorn Fanbirds who are wearing their Burnt Orange with pride!!

Mama says these may not REAAALLLLY be Longhorn fans. They are most likely a mix of Rufous and Allen Hummingbirds....You know what I say to that???

    Niece Sunny OMDs da Longhorns and my favorite de Long beaks...Please thank Mama for this wonderful video. Checking my records from last year my last sighting of a rubythroated Hummers was October 8....I noted that the night of Oct 7 the temp was 43. I suspect the dear gems awoke from their sleep zip by for a sip to head toward warmer weather
