Flamingo Friday Fun

Welcome to Nature Friday where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. During Mama's visit to the ABQ Zoo, she stopped to admire the Flamingos (anybody surprised? BOL)

This Flamingo was large and in charge when she was there...

Which was good, because it must have been nap time for the other flamingos.

Mama was amazed at their pretty salmon like color...

I thought they were supposed to be pink, like Flo here but I guess it depends on what kind of food they are eating.

At least these gals have pink legs.....it always amazed us how they can sleep with only one foot down.

Unless, of course they sleep on both feet like these guys. Maybe because they are on the
ground and not in the water? Who knows....

Click on the picture above for fun video of Mr. Large and in Charge Flamingo.

He sure is a funny flamingo!!

Thanks for joining us for a Fun Flamingo Friday. We sure hope you all get to enjoy some nature this weekend!!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  4. Maybe we should all practice sleeping while standing on one foot and see how it goes? Flamingos are funny birds but we like them.

  12. The flamingos are beautiful. You are right, their color depends on what they eat, the particular shrimp they like impart the color. If you feed them albino shrimp with no color, the flamingos turn white!

  16. I LOVE FLAMINGOS... ours are a little bit more pink, some are lighter and darker and AI says this about the 1 foot.
While the one-legged stance is their preferred resting position, they use both feet when they need to be active or alert:
