Rosy here today with my assistant Arty to show you some of the nature we saw during our stay at the Orange Grove RV Park!
The Orange Grove RV Park is located on the Southeast side of Bakersfield, California and, as the name says, it is located in the midst of an orange grove! How about that for Nature Friday material?!
We stayed there twice, once on the way down to Joshua Tree NP, and again on the way home. The first night we spent there, it was pretty empty and Mama got this nice shot of the orange grove!
The oranges are close to being ripe, but still a month or so away from harvest time. Mama was a little sad because visitors are allowed to pick and keep the oranges during harvest season. She sure does love her some fresh squeezed orange juice!

Mama cheered up after taking a stroll around the large RV Park. They put a lot of effort into their park design and landscaping.
They had little areas that seemed to be made for photo shoots! Plus, they had a large selection of her favorite flowers....
That's right, there were Lantana bushes in full bloom and everywhere!!
Old farm equipment made wonderful additions to the landscaping.
Mama and her camera always seemed to be drawn to the
different colored Lantana tho....

are even a bit Autumnal, don't you think??

ReplyDeleteThe orange grove is gorgeous and we didn't know that lantana could grow that large. The colors are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the old stuff sitting around that area there and the pretty flowers. Mom isn't such a huge orange fan but the orange grove looks nice.
ReplyDeleteI don't actually think I have ever seen an orange still on a tree. They sure are pretty and I'm with Mama I love oranges too. Our lantana has been spectacular this year. I do think the ones Mama found have more varieties of color.

a beautiful rv park, i love the photo with the brooding sky. we live in orange country and am waiting for them to hit the produce shelves. on my new low fodmap citrus is a good choice. so may places to pose the two of you for photo shoots
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a pretty park to stay at. We can't believe how big those lantana bushes are. Around here we can only grow them as annuals so they never get that big by the end of summer.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfurs place - and lantana is definitely pretty, but I confess I have difficulty looking at it without my toes curling. In OZ it is an invasive species to the bush and has been classified as a noxious weed... but it is obviously well-attended and kept in control at this park and I agree, the colours fit the season! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
awe the puppies are great models. I grew up in Florida, to orange grove people, grew up driving through the groves with a father estimating yields and buying crops to make into juice. Always had fruit at home. Boy I miss that fresh fruit! We're coming into season soon, but we live in CO now and have to import food, and it's not always available.

ReplyDeleteI know something about oranges. The word comes from Spanish, where they are called Naranja. But the English thought it sounded like ‘an aranja’ (an orange), so dropped the first n. I just wonder whether the colour orange is based on the fruit and if it had a different name first…
Anyway, I hope you are having a lovely trip with lots of beautiful photos (like these).

ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful lantanas. Mom never has much luck with them, but the pentas do very well here. They look similar but not as colorful.
ReplyDeleteWe hope the orange crop is a good one. Seems like so many products didn't have a good year. Both Dad and Mom enjoy a good glass of fresh squeezed oj.
