New Mexico River Otters

 

 

Did you know they have River Otters here in New Mexico???

 

 That's right, Mama visited the local Aquarium

and saw these little guys zooming around.It seems they live in parts of the Rio Grande and other New Mexico Rivers!

 

 

 They sure are fast in the water...

 

 

Look! She's swimming with her eyes closed...

It's a wonder she didn't bump into anything

 I am thankful that Mama learned River Otters are here in New Mexico. Hopefully, Daddy and I will get to see one this Summer on one of our river hikes!

Jemez Mountains

 

 Howdy all and happy Nature Friday!

Today, I told Mama she could show everyone the highlights from 

a recent "ride to nowhere" she took to the nearby Jemez Mountains!

 

 

There were beautiful red rock plateaus

 

 

 

 She saw cool red rock formations too!

 

 

 

 

Such beautiful views!

 

 

 

 

 

 She even saw some ruins!

 

 

 

I stayed home, you know...to take care of my buffalo.

Not because I get car sick or anything....

 

 It's funny, New Mexico has lots of mountains....

 

 

 

 But lots of trees too!!

 

 

 

 It even has waterfalls!! This is the Soda Dam Waterfall. It's a natural dam where, when the Jemez river runs high, the water flows through to make the waterfall..

 

 

 

 Very cool don't you think??

 

 

 

 That wraps up this week's Nature Friday. Hopefully one day soon we can take Cece up there for a weekend so I can experience the Jemez Mountains too!

Thankful for Mama Happies

 

Today, I'm thankful for things that make Mama happy.  We all know if Mama ain't happy, nobody is happy! In this case, I am thankful those big, loud balloons fly over our house all year round!

 

Mama and Daddy saw a big group of balloons flying over our house on New Year's Day! It was just the thing to help make Mama happy when she still had the sickies!

 

 

It was in the 30s(F) and I bet the passengers were freezy cold...

 

 

....BUT

Mama was smiling from ear to ear!

 

 

We sure are thankful to have happy, healthy Mama back....she tends to give out more treats!
