Just a reminder that squirrels will be heading back to the ground when your snow melts and you may want to start practicing your Squirrel Catching Skills. I am here to make sure that you who have been in freezy weather remember what to do if a squirrel invades your backyard.
First you sneak up on him...don't let him know that you know he is there.
La Dee Daa....No squirrel here.
The...BAM...you nab him!!!
Then you RUN with him.....
GRRRRRR.....you shake him!!
You bang him on the ground (ear flappage is optional)
Then you tell him that he better be a good squirrel and go live in someone else's yard!!
Then stand over him as he surrenders!!
Your yard is safe for another day and you have completed your daily squirrel maneuvers!!
(Squirrel stuffies were threatened but not severely injured during this exercise)
Dory,
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of work to me, but those squirrels can be quite persistent. Maybe I will just post signs of your fierce self around the perimeter.
Slobbers,
Mango
We have learned something from you, Dory but we don't have that many squirrels over at our place.
ReplyDeleteHi Dory,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. There are lots of squirrels in our neighborhood but there's only one that comes in our yard. He hides his nuts in mom's flower beds! We HATE his guts and chase him every time we get the chance.
Waggles,
Bijou
Those buggers are up to my Grammy and Grampy's all the time. They feed the birdies and the squirrels steal from the birdies. I'm way to slow to catch them, so thanks for the advice, I can try your technique!

That dang squirrel didn't stand a chance against you Dory!
ReplyDeleteDory you are the ultimate Squirrel
ReplyDeletePatrol Expert. We have so many in our yard we have just given up on patrol. Could you come up to NC? Mom has the bird feeders protected so they cannot gorge on the bird food so that is about all she can do.
Madi and MOm
Ohhhhhh Dory!!!
ReplyDeleteI love you for ever!!!!!!
I love read your adventures and look your photos!!!!
Your blog is very pretty and you too!!!!!
Whit love!!!!!!

Thank you Dory!!! I have been blocked from my squirrels by all this snow. They come and mock me every day. Now when this snow does melt I will be able to use your A+ training post to sharpen my skills and be successful at my RODENT RIDDING work. You are a TRUE furend!!!
ReplyDeleteWooos Dory,Great JOB! Most impressed! woo forgot one small step, I swallow them! (well once, any way...)

WOWZA! Dory, you did so good catching that squirrel. Ours always run up a tree or just outside our fence and make faces at us! But, you are right, we will begin to practice now. Do you think our momma will mind if we use one of the cats☺
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dory!! Everyone assumes we doggies are all natural hunters, but it doesn't come easily to some of us! Now I know what I'm doing wrong - it's the sneak attack I'm missing!! I start barking my head off before I'm even out the door, in so doing announcing my incoming self & giving the sqirrley a head start! No WONDER I can never catch them!!
ReplyDeleteSnorts-
Brutus the Frenchie
Dory, what a professional you are!! Thanks for reminding us! We had nearly forgotten.
ReplyDeleteWoofs and Kisses!
oh thanks for the tips, Dory
ReplyDeleteno squirrels here, but we will use that for big black birds and stray cats who come and visit

That was an excellent drill, Dory... you are definitely a good teacher. The tree rats better have a strategy this coming spring.
ReplyDeleteLicks, hero
Dory, I have many squirrel invaders in my backyard...thank you for the refresher course...they stay on the fence with all the snow but as we both know, it is only a matter of time before they TRY to sniff around the ground.
ReplyDeleteDory, we are ready! We have seen a few squirrels and Martha is still trying to climb trees!
ReplyDeleteWe liked your demonstration of what to do when we catch one....it is only a matter of time!
love

Thanks for the heads up! In our family ear flapping is not optional :)
ReplyDeleteGood job! Do you think it would help to go undercover in a squirrel costume? ;P
ReplyDeleteGreat capture! I think that squirrel learned its lesson.
ReplyDeleteYou're a superb tactician, Dory! I was wondering if you're available for private lessons. The squirrels in my back yard keep shamelessly flaunting themselves and taunting me. I love your "humane" approach more than anything. No one was harmed.
ReplyDeleteTwink!
We have zillions of squirrels in our neighborhood. I have a fenced in yard so what they do is climb across the power line, then go down into our lilac bushes. I see
ReplyDelete'em and take off after them, but they are fast and can always get back on the power line. I only wish one would fall off into the snow, and THEN I could get him!
Thanks for the tips, Dory!
Kisses,
Stella
I think the ear flapping is necessary...it's super cute!
ReplyDeleteDory, I took lots of notes! Those squirrels better watch out!
ReplyDeleteBunny
I bet if THAT was a video on YouTube it would go viral!
ReplyDeleteWell done!

Hi, Dory!
ReplyDeleteI'm tuckered out just watching...
time for me to be for dinner scraps.
Bye for now!

That is one heck of a demonstration!! Such concentration!
ReplyDeleteGreat demo!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Maxx
My guys have definitely gotten complacent with all the snow still on the ground. I will use this entry to remind that they have to 'work' for their dinner :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Dory!
ReplyDeleteWell... I have never seen a squirrel here but sure now I know what I have to do in case one of those apprears here!
Kisses and hugs

ReplyDeleteThanks for the refresher class. We always need to be prepared. I wanna get myself a pesty squirrel this year for sure. They will be here soon enough. Good job on that squirrel. I bet he will think twice before he enters your yard again. The sneakin...is the best part!!

Wow Dory, you are a pro! That squirrel didn't stand a chance!
ReplyDeleteLuv, Lucy (Woof!)
But they were injured a LITTLE bit, right?
ReplyDeleteGreat job watching out for the squirrels and getting them!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Teddy Bear
Excellent tutorial, Dory! You have to be ready at all times for those nasty rodents! I think the ground squirrels around here hibernate during at least part of the winter, but we will be ready when they reappear! The CCC
ReplyDeleteWow, you have got your squirrel maneuvers down to a fine art Dory, we dont think there will be many in your garden this year!
ReplyDeleteWags, Dip Bridge and Elliot xx
Thank you for the reminder - they will be out and about before we know it.
ReplyDeleteXOXO

Way to take charge, Dory! You showed that squirrel who's in charge!
ReplyDeleteWoo!
Luv,
Dave
Wow Dory, you are one fantastic squirrel hunter. Cindi Lou does not like the squirrels, they tease her and are super fast. She asks if she can use the photo of you standing over the squirrel to keep them under control?
ReplyDeleteI had Rugby takes notes. He is aweful at chasing squirrels. Hopefully he learned a thing or two!
