Weekly Wrap Up

The Week in Review....OR...things Mama missed this week....

Snow
I had my very first snow event. It confirmed my theory that I do NOT like snow and don't know how doggies like Cloud, Tank, Bijou and Banjo do it. I do understand how big doggies like Khyra, the OP pack, and AO4 do love it.

Flat-Stanley-in-the-Snow
Flat Stanley arrived just in time for the snow...I am thinking that maybe Brutus and his Mama sent some snowey vibes from that Ohio state. Mama will be taking him around Austin with me this weekend and take lots of pictures. Look for more of Flat Stanley next week.

sunshineawardfromCoCo
Coco passed on he Sunshine Award to me. Thanks so much Coco you are such a wonderful and caring friend! Please, if you do not have this award yet, please pick it up on your way out.

squirrelbadge
We had a pawesome scout meeting yesterday. Brutus led us in song, Miss Bailey taught us how to be nice to kitties...and, just in time for Spring, we got this Squirrel award! Thanks to Candy and Captain (and their Mama Martine) for hosting!

...and finally, Mama has had a rough week. She left her old job after 7 years for a new job and then that job didn't work out so now she has no job.
What-Mama
She sat us down and let us know that we will have to "cut back" on some things until she finds another job. She says not to worry, we are blessed that our Daddy has a good job and we still have plenty more than lots of other doggies have. However, she will have to start giving us our haircuts again...I told her not to worry that I would just let my hair grow out and Bilbo agreed that this was a good idea. Mama does NOT think this is a good idea, but at least we have some time to talk her into letting us before we need our next haircut.
On the positive side, Mama now has time to keep up with all our friends!
Hope everyone is having a happy weekend!

  1. Poor mama. You be good to her and let her cut your furs any way she wants. The humans get stressy from work, but even more stressy from no work.

  2. That seems like an exciting and eventful week, Dory... and congrats on the award. The most fulfilling job for mama is to be able to spent more time with Bilbo and you.

  3. I had heard that the Pup Scout meeting was a success. Grrreat Badge thingy.
Sorry your mama didn't like the new joby thingy. Well, on the bright side you get more cuddle time.
Has your mom cut your furs before??? Maybe she can set up a furs cutting stand in your yard and earn green papers that way. If you were out there to advertise for her she would make 87 bazillion plastics and papers. Who could resist the two of you??? I'm just sayin'.

  4. Oh D & B
mom gives me home haircuts too. I hope your mom is a little bit better than mine. Don't worry, I know she'll find a job soon. PS.. snow is fun fun to eat fun to pee on fun to flop in! Maybe you need mittens like me?

  6. We are sorry to hear that about your Mom and hope she is able to find something that is right for her soon. Don't fret the haircuts - you always are beautiful in our eyes. Congrats on your award and we really enjoyed wooing along with you and all those songs at the Pup Scout meeting.

  7. A very bitter-sweet week! I am sure the snow will melt and haircuts will come back in no time!

  8. I'm surprised you didn't like your little bit of snow Dory. Lhasas originated in Tibet you know and generally like cold weather. We've just had so much of the white stuff this year & my assistant complains about me tracking in sand & salt from the street. Note to your Mama - a longer coat will help keep you warm in winter & cool in summer:)

Sorry about the job not working out. What a pain to have to start the search again. I'll keep my paws crossed that something just falls in her lap!

  9. Hey pals (& Stanley)!
It snowed there - whoa!! Good thing you put a raincoat on Stanely before he went outside! These humans worry so much about jobs - don't they see that caring for us is a great job in itself? All that fuss over the green papers! Well, hope your mom finds something good that lets her still spend time with you two!!

  10. Hi Dory and Bilbo,

Isn't is great to have a stay at home mom? Enjoy it while you can.

  12. HI Dory and Bilbo,

I'm not at all surprised you didn't like the snow. Unless you have long legs and thick fur, snow is just a pain in the hiney.

Sorry to hear your mom is out of work. I'm sure she will find a new job in no time. Enjoy having her home while you can.

  13. We missed the pup scout meeting on account of TaiChi, and me having to keep teaching The Little Monster who is in charge, but it sounds like a great time! As for the haircuts? It's still winter for a while, and your hairs look pretty short, so maybe your Mom can hold off cutting them for a while, and in the interim, you can find her a new job! *grin* But take care of your Mom, and make sure she gets plenty of quality snuggle time with you - that way she can really appreciate her no-work time!

  14. Sorry about the job situation. I think you and Bilbo need to give your mom extra smoochies and that's bound to help her feel better.
I can't believe you have more snow than we do. Some things just make no sense.
    Woo.

  15. Dory,
Things will improve. My Mommy has had the job problem before, and she always found a new one. It just takes time. Your job is to encourage Mommy to keep her happy and comforted.

  17. Dearest Dory and Bilbo,

We didn't know you get snowflakes in your backyard. It sure was a thrill for us to see snowflakes for we don't get them here in our world. Too bad you didn't enjoy it so much. Is that Bilbo's tail we see behind you in the photo? He is really a shy, adorable pup!

We are sorry to hear that Mama's work didn't work out for her though we are sure she will find another one she will like. She is a sweet and amazing Mama and we know a better opportunity will come her way. In the meantime, do give her as much support and love. We also support her 100%.

Worry not about your haircuts with Mama, we still believe she did a great job when she gave you some snips before. She brought out the cuteness in you!

Congratulations on your pawesome awards and we are so happy to see you in the last Pup Scout meet.

Have a good weekend, dear friends!

  18. Your last photo is adorable, Dory and Bilbo. How can anybody say "no" to you two? I can't imagine why a haircut by your momma is a problem, if you realize she's going to be spending more time with you. What news!
    Twink!

  19. Tell your Mom you are glad to give up Cheetos and the haircuts. Same for whatever Bilbo will do. You will get through this, and she will find the best job pretty quick.

OR she could get retireded like my Mom. She gets to stay home all day long just taking care of me and Ali Z, who says nobody needs to take care of her!

    Kisses,
    Stella

  20. Oh Dory how funny...I was just talking about Flat Stanley to my hair dresser the other week. I didn't know they still did that. Many many years ago one of the grad students at NCSU rec'd Flat Stanley from his niece. I actually had my picture takend with Flat Stanley.
We are so sorry our mom's new job did not work out...bummer but we believe things happen for a reason.
Lots of doors out there..the exact one she needs will open up for her when the time is right.
When mom was a little girl she used to walk to/from school right by a Krispy Kreme shop. In the afternoon all the school children could come in for free doughnut holes.....oh so good.

  30. You will enjoy having your Mama home more with you... We are going to miss having our Dad home now that he has one of those job thingys! If your Mama really wants one, then Grammy says that she will pray that she finds just the right one for her, ok, but you can still give her lots of loves and kisses in the time you DO have her!

We loved the Pup Scout meeting too, and of course that Squirrel Badge was just right for us!

We are still hoping to get a chance to at least SEE the snow this year, but it's looking less and less like that will happen. Of course you just got clipped, so no wonder you were cold! The CCC Pups

  31. Dory, you are so lucky you got snow. That stuff is pawesome. We are so sorry to hear about your Mama. Tell her that my Mommy knows just how she feels. We'll keep our paws crossed that she finds a job that she loves.

  33. Oh Dory,
Sorry about your mama's job, thats really a bummer but.....on the flip side, means more time with YOU and Bilbo!!Yippee!! enjoy that time as I bet she will find a new job.

And having Mom do your haircuts, thats a bummer too. I love to go and get mine cut and the lady is sooo nice. Word has it that my mom used to cut Sprints (the dog before me) hair and lets say everyone felt so sorry for him after she cut it. So..I hope for my sake that my mom keeps her job, BOL

And...whats this bout not liking the snow? HOW can anyone not like snow?? I LOVE snow~~It is a blast to run in and play in. You just got a dustin..it looks like. Now a real snow is over 4 inches BOL

  34. Hi Dory,

We've just been having a good old catch up with your blog. We're sorry to hear about your momma's job but she's lucky to have such understanding pups who will help her through this time. We arrived when our FH was 'between jobs' and she thinks we're her good-luck charm.

We loved your squirrel post, such great action shots, he he he! And your translation post is simply wonderful - FH really chuckled and we just fell in love with the first photo - sigh...!!

  37. Give your Mama a chance to improve her haircut skills by letting her cut your fur as often as needed.

It would be better for her to leave that job if it didn't work out for her. We are sure she'll find a better job soon.
