Flower Friday - Rhody Parade

Welcome to another Flower Friday!
Now that the weather seems to be warming up in the northern hemisphere, we hope most of you are seeing flowers peeking out!

One of the annual Spring events here in Humboldt County is the Rhody parade!

It seems that the Rhodies grow everywhere up here, so they have a special parade to honor them!!

They decorate cars and trucks with the flowers!

Here I am watching the cars and horsies go by!

Oooooooo...look at the doggie on the pretty float Daddy!

We had a wonderful time at the Rhody parade and we will leave you with some pictures of the different color Rhodies in our yard...

 Dark pink Rhodies

 White Rhodies with purple middles

Light pink Rhodies

...and purple Rhodies with orange middles!!

What kind of flowers are popular where you live???

  3. Lady doesn't know much about flowers and we are behind where we should be cause of the extra long winter. Ottawa has an annual tulip festival because during WWII we made part of a hospital Dutch territory so a princess could be born here. Since then, as a thank you, the dutch send a lot of tulips. We planted some this year but they aren't ready to flower yet. Thanks for sharing all your flowers.

  12. Mom used to have lots of the purple rhododendrons in her yard as a little girl. They were huge and gorgeous. We like those dark oink ones the best. Dory, is there any flower you don't have in your garden?

  13. Those rhodies are gorgeous! We don't have any flowers as showy as those. Our wildflowers peak in June and July but most of them are too small to photograph with a dog! So, I'll just have to enjoy your photos!

  14. Your flowers are beautiful! I wish we had a flower parade here. In the fall, one town has a Marigold Festival, but they aren't very dog friendly.

  15. Such pretty flowers and that parade looked like great fun. Mommy loves the Texas bluebonnets of course but we got to drive up to Bryan to see any and they don't last long and then they are gone. We did't get to see any this year.. Mommy's favorites are hibiscus.

Hope you'll send us a pic for our Mother's Day Smiley Box. See our April 29th post for details.
