Southwest Desert Rest Area on Nature Friday

This week, with a bit of camera magic, I thought I would show you the scenery at one of the New Mexico rest areas where Mama stopped during her journey to Texas.

Mama and I have frequented bunches of rest areas in our days and we are always amazed at the hidden beauty you can find at different stops across the country! Even in the middle of summer, she found this beautimous yellow flower(we believe it is some kind of honey mesquite bloom)!

As some of you might know, Mama is always drawn to rocks and rock formations. She always loves to see the beautiful rock walls in the Southwest USA!

This rest area had bunches of them!

I never can understand why humans feel the needs to deface nature, can't they just pee on it like all normal animals do?!

But enough about silly humans. Mama couldn't believe she found this beauty in the 100 degree desert weather! This is most likely some kind of desert willow flower...but Mama isn't pawsitive.

Here is a view of the rest area to give you an idea of just how "desert like" it really is!
A "pee on the dirt" kind of place for sure!

Thanks for tagging along on our desert rest stop tour! It sure was fun seeing what cool things Mama found at the rest areas she visited.

Have you ever found cool things at rest areas where you've stopped??

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE

  5. Mom had real trouble with desert rest areas when she took Emma and Bailie to Vegas. Bailie refused to pee or poop for almost 24 hours because she wanted grass. Emma showed her it was fine to do it all on sand, but Bailie refused. Thankfully, the Vegas hotel had grass, and Bailie was quite "relieved".

  20. Beautiful pictures. It is interesting to see the difference in rest stops from one state to another. I was shocked to see warnings of rattlesnakes and scary scorpions in west Texas! YIKES!!
